Yes to Vrable. Out for Mayo. I don't think Mayo has the right mentality to be a HC, even if given another year to learn on the job. He is too wishy washy. He worked under Belichick for some years and thought that he is smarter than Belichick on how to run a football club. He isn't. There are reasons why the good and great coaches are the way they are. Choosing not to emulate what works is a sign Mayo does not have the aptitude for the job.

In 2023, the Patriots defense was led by Covington's defensive line and finished the season with the lowest yards per rush in the NFL. I am just wondering what happened? I’m out on Mayo, he doesn’t seem to be developing as a coach that well. Development is what everyone expects of a rookie at any position and he’s not doing it. I think his transition to head coach was probably too early and he needs more time as a coach in the league before given another chance at the head coaching position. I personally preferred Vrabel over Mayo but wasn’t too upset they went with Mayo. But I will say I was a little upset that they didn’t even interview other HC candidates before hiring Mayo.

As much as i'd love to see Vrabel at the helm, there's NO WAY they'll get rid of Mayo. He's Kraft's guy, plain and simple. Same reason he let Bill just walk all over him and the franchise for years. It's painfully obvious that Mayo has zero confidence in both the team and himself as a coach. And deep down he has to know Kraft won't open the wallet for free agency, let alone make good decisions in the draft. Vrabel wouldn't accept the tight leash Kraft wants on his coaches post-Bill.

In order to get good players, you need to ATTRACT them! Maye is a good lure, but there is no leadership, navigation, or rudder! Jerod turns on his coaching crew? This is so very much NOT ETHICAL. Good players may want to come here because of Drake Maye, but they're NOT coming here with this type of Head Coach and dysfunction. we're looking at 4 to 5 YEARS to be highly competitive, if then.
