@Alexandru20101991. Bro. I don’t know where you’re located, but if you’re around Orthodox clergy, for the love of Christ & his Church, send missionaries, priests & monastics. America needs Orthodoxy. It’s spreading like wildfire. I’m a recent convert and I’m upset there wasn’t more of a presence of Orthodoxy growing up! I’m mad my Greek friends didn’t try to convert me as a kid. Orthodoxy is awesome and I’m so grateful to have found The Apostolic Church. It’s astonishing.

I don't know if your screen name has any significance to you (mine doesn't to me, it's just a nursery rhyme that popped into my head years ago when creating this account), but anyway... "Jethro" is the name of Moses' father-in-law, who was the priest of Midian (a tribe of peoples related to the Israelites through Abraham). It was he who advised Moses to quit trying to carry the burden of leading the entire nation on his own shoulders and the delegate some of his authority to other trustworthy men (i.e., the leaders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens), while he (Moses) was to focus primarily on his own priestly duties, taking on only the biggest cases for judgment (Exod 18:12-27). Anyway, his name is always synonymous (to me) with wise counsel and godly, good administration.

Make sure you investigate everything deeply and carefully. Don’t just jump into it. I’m ex orthodox and was in this very parish Fr. Josiah was my priest. Loved Fr Josiah and that parish but orthodoxy I later discovered is fake news. They make claims that are actually very incorrect if you go back and read and study church history unbiasedly and fully. Not to mention it wasn’t for me and I’ll just leave it at that. Many go and then many leave. You’ll see and learn like we all did. But even if you choose to stay for whatever reason, most orthodox today are not correctly catechized. And they will even tell you that you need to develop Phronomia (the mind of the church) and take your time! Many rush their conversion (which is dumb) but it takes 6-12 months anyway to go thru their process. But I took 5 long years of thousands of hours of study, being active at parishes, catechisms, reading hundreds of books, talking to priests, visiting monasteries, talking to monks and theologians etc. So, I Made SURE I was thoroughly convinced and was eventually chrismated. But after many years of being very active in parish life and being in all the positions in the parish, I saw many things. BUT, I also continued to study and debate others and research and read. Because I did that, my eyes were eventually opened even more. And long story short I had to leave it behind. But blessings to your journey. (Not to badmouth it because Orthodoxy is also a beautiful faith and ancient. But it certainly has many faults and inconsistencies and flaws as well as incorrect doctrines too. ) just to pass along some useful advice to you. 👌🏽

Greetings from a Syrian 🇸🇾 in Japan 🇯🇵 Thanks for the video and for the detailed explanation of the architecture. God bless your efforts and bless your church and parish. I never thought that I would relate to a one video from these many different aspects: 1. I am from Aleppo, and St. Simon the stylite that father Josiah talked about in the beginning, his church with the remaining of the pillar where he used to sit is like an hour by car from my hometown. 2. The doors of the church that were engraved in Antioch (Antakya) in Turkey, which where my grandmothers are from, and I had relatives until the last earthquake (They are safe, just left Antakya because of the destruction). 3. I live in Japan, and I have been many time to Nicolai-do in Tokyo, where father Josiah’s brother first went into an Orthodox Church. 4. I thought that I had all relevances to this video already mentioned when I wrote this comment, until the last moments of the video, where father Josiah mentions St. John of Damascus. I have been living in Japan for 10 years, and just two months ago I learnt that there is a small church of 100 years old in Handa, a small city in Aichi prefecture, which is named Church of John of Damascus.

@@zealousideal I am sorry you left, for whatever the reason. But the Early Church history shows the opposite, Rome left 4 remaining Patriarchates by introducing 13 CHANGES in 1054. Alexandria, Jerusalem, Antioch, and Constantinople did NOT WANT to leave ORIGINAL TEACHING OF CHRIST for heretical Roman Pope. Christ is the head of the CHURCH☦️ not "infallible" anti-Light man. With Pope's blessing 800,000 Serbian Orthodox Christians were slaughtered in ww2 in Jasenovac Concentration Camp, led by Franciscan friars. My childhood church, even though Roman Catholic, had beautiful icon-like paintings all over the many-arched ceilings. As a small child, I would gaze at these paintings depicting all the symbols of Christ, the Trinity, the evangelists, etc. I experienced a closeness to God that transported me, even as a little kid pre- first communion. Somewhere in the period post “Vatican 2”, the church’s decor was changed, and all those amazing paintings were covered over with blue and gold paint. All of it was gone. I was heartbroken.
