I love the limited serial number idea. I'm more of a Pokemon guy and always wondered if they could do first edition again, but those things would be sought after and 95% probably bought buy stores/investors. I guess the same would be said for the first few "serial numbered pokemon set".

Wasn't the reprint quantity always fixed for the editions with numbered cards? You can't suddenly print new numbered cards or issue collector displays without numbered cards. So they could, but it would be a big scandal if it came out. Don't quite understand why that would be a new finding.

I recently opened a box of khans and almost all the cards had a huge dent on the side, I see that card quality hasn't improved a bit and they can keep their damaged stuff from now on, just look at (for example) the quality of violet and scarlet Jp boxes and its not really even a match.

A second wave is different from a reprint. A second wave can still happen with serialized cards. All they have to do is release a certain percentage of the boxes that they printed all at once when the set first comes out.

It's always been hard to appreciate how good something is when it's new or current. Look at all of culture and how nostalgia can turn even junk into gold. I remember songs in 1998 people couldn't stand hearing daily on the radio become these "omg this is what real music is!" reactions today. People still joke about not realizing how special beta and alpha was when current. Even a boat load of sealed 2010 to 2014 product would be considered pretty sweet now. So I don't know why anyone thinks all this stuff won't be "the gold ol days" in 15 to 20 years. The urza theme, beautiful artifacts and the occasional big serial hit is what magic good feels are about. Eventually it will be old, nostalgic and unavailable at large. I was beyond thrilled when I pulled a red neon ink. If anything it will be an interesting magic product to track the value of. And it's something thst genuinely wows alot of people to see in person. Love mtg.

I think we're still a way off seeing Magic recover here in the UK. They always seem to send us too much supply for what we actually need. That being said the Compleat Bundles were a massive hit. First time in a long time I've seen a product disappear so quickly from retail shops. Despite all that I've got my Commander Masters pre orders locked in. Bring on the pain! 😂

Been living in the UK for 12 years - coming from Italy where the culture of MtG is massive comparatively, only managed to get in 1 tournament, which was badly organised, everyone was stuck in a warehouse and all you could smell was nerd sweat. From one of London's biggest organisers. The card market in the UK is illiquid too. I don't think there's much to save for the MtG UK scene tbh :(

@@ThatEm Yeah it's a real shame. Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh seem to do fine but Magic just doesn't seem to be that popular. You're right about the lack of liquidity. If I list a Pokemon box it'll go the same day whereas a Magic box can take weeks. That being said vintage cards do ok here but I suppose that's because there just isn't many on ebay. That's interesting about Italy. I wonder why it does better over there. 🤔

@@monkey39128 To be fair, Italy, France and Spain are the biggest MtG players in Europe. Not sure why there, and not the UK. Perhaps just cultural differences when it comes to collectibles for 'not kids'. Italy and France used to host the biggest European vintage and legacy and extended tournaments - hard stuff with P9/duals etc as prizes. Not sure nowadays as I've been out of serious MtG since I moved to the UK, given the lack of interest (sigh)

I could care less if Wizards is making less product. With Wizards track record, you just can't trust them. They can keep the presses rolling and release more later in the year like Neon Dynasty and Double Masters. Their box prices are getting ridiculous and you could buy a good card from the Reserve List than wasting your money on the new collector boxes from LOTR and Commander Masters where you do not get much value. You can get a good deal on an Amazon Dump but overall, Amazon's prices are quite high on the Magic products. Our group gets tired of the HYPE on certain products. Finally, someone gets a serialized mythic. But, I do not care about them and the Lost Legends cards. Thanks for the Video Rudy.

In all honesty, as much as I would LOVE to hunt around, try and get a deal on the last of brother's war collectors, I just don't have the time, nor the money to invest in set aside boxes anymore. It's just not worth it. We have March of, Masters, LoTR, the various secret lairs in between. Whatever the hell they have lined up for 3rd quarter on. Personally, I've already decided, I'm sitting LotR completely out. Maybe buy one bundle, that's IT. People want to chase after the one ONE ring, let em. They wanna chase after the human, dwarves, elves rings, fine. for me, I'm out.

A note about reducing inventory: If they do, and the prices skyrocket from said inventory reduction, then it will price people out of the market (unless you are super rich), which will reduce their profit margin, which then forces them to raise prices further to compensate for that loss, hence forcing more out of the market, and so on. An endless loop. This happened in the sports card industry, and now Wizards and Hasbro risks running into the same problem. For guys like Rudy who is rich, it won't affect him. He'll still buy 700 pallets of product without batting an eyelash. As far as the little man (namely a majority of his patrons), they are going to feel the brunt of this shift.
