Alana Jordan, those early cowgirl costumes were designed by Patsy's mother, and Patsy actually preferred this down-to-Earth look; it kept more in fitting with the style of music she wanted to sing. Her later look was due to her manager and her record company. Patsy was a country girl, and that look was her own choice. No one forced her to wear her cowgirl gear; it's what she wanted to wear. As she got more popular, pop culture took over and told her how to dress. She looked beautiful in anything she wore. Shouldn't mock it.

The first scene was the church, then the altar Where we claimed each other, with tears of joy we cried Our friends wished us luck there forever As we walked from the church, side by side The next scene was a crowded courtroom And like strangers we sat side by side Then I heard the judge make his decision And no longer were we man and wife I hate the sight of that courtroom Where man-made laws push God's laws aside Then the clerk wrote our story in the record A church, a courtroom and then goodbye We walked from that courtroom together We shook hands and once again we cried Then it was the end of our story A church, a courtroom and then goodbye

I love Patsy Cline, but neither she nor the writer of the song was much of a constitutional expert. That's a VERY un-American line, and one that would have prevented us all from enjoying her recordings had they really meant it. (She would've been kept hidden by her first abusive husband.) Thank God we don't live by "God's laws." I like bacon cheeseburgers and my brother-in-law, but I sure wouldn't have wanted to become his wife when my husband died. You don't get to pick and choose which of the laws the old Jewish leaders wrote to protect their desert society you'll obey. Or, more simply, the only laws that we know are God's and not man's are the laws of nature, aka science.

Her music became slicker, more sophisticated and pop-oriented as time went by and her country side was more and more diluted. We can only guess if she would have continued to allow this trend to continue. I don't care I only know she is right up there with Streisand, Garland Carpenter,Franklin, Houston and Carey etc. as one of the greatest who ever lived let alone of the last century.
