Julie . I met patsy at a policeman ball in kansas.i went backstage to get her autograph she ask me to stay back there with her because she always had to travel with the men singers. We got to visit and talk all evening when she had to go on stage to sing she said please stay here I have to sing 3 songs and I'll be right back. She wrote me a note with her autograph. Your mom was a wonderful person. She was in a plane crash sometime after that. She was only on that plane because one of the guys had to be somewhere else. And she took his place on the plane I still cry when I think of her.but I tell myself she is singing for God now. I didn't know she had a daughter till now. I lost the treasured note she wrote me in a flash flud along with all we owned.i still thank God for that day I got to meet her in person. God bless you.

Chiffvette Rice, I love your heart felt comment and how sweet your words were. I have always loved Patsy Cline. I'm very close to her Daughter's age, my being slightly over six months older than Julie. I hope that she will read this too. There's something that I think will cause her a big smile and maybe a tear or two too. My Momma was from right there in Camden,TN. For many, many years, my Momma's picture graced a store front display of a Photography Shop's window there on the town square, I believe that was the location of the shop. Old Time locals may recall the green eyed beauty, that many throughout time believed was a movie star. She wasn't one and was just Momma to me. Always on trips back to TN we went to the Grand Ole Opry, from my infancy on. I was the first born of my parents, not sure of my exact age, but I am guessing 18 months to 2 years old at the time this Opry visit happened. I was used to people giving me loads of attention. 😂 So finally while Singers were performing and no attention was paid to me, I started crying, a loud mouth crying little baby girl. No matter what my parent did for me, it didn't calm me. This one Singer, came out into the audience and to me. She talked to my parents a bit and asking where we were from, home was in OK. I was still crying and she asked if she could hold me. They agreed, handing me over. I ate that up plus I hushed up for her! This Singer among so many hits song, had one called, "I'm Back in Baby's Arms". I was in this moment, the Baby in the arms of Patsy Clines! Patsy had the eyes of everyone within rows of her standing there, loving on and pacifying 'Baby Ol Me'. My parents and much later I too, believed her care of soothing a Cry Baby spoke of the quality of a Momma that she was and in missing her own Baby Girl. Many times performers would get back into Nashville from being out from on the road doing shows and turn around needing to be on the Opry that night.

How sad that Patsy's children were robbed of the their mother through freakish circumstances. How sad to know they were denied those precious moments and memories they could've had. I hope they at least had the love they required as they grew up without their mother. This charming woman appears to have fared well despite the tragedy in her early life. I read an article about two years ago, none of the children in a study had clear memory of events prior to being age five. My sister was four years, six months when we move from TX. She vaguely remember those horned toads that hissed at you when you caught them but not much else. How sad we all lost Patsy so young. Thankfully we have recordings of her to fall back on.

Hi Allison! When Patsy was in her late teens/early 20’s she married her 1st husband Gerald Cline. After their divorce, she kept the last name Cline as her stage name. She married Charlie Dick soon thereafter and had 2 children: Julie and Randy. Patsy’s legal name was actually Virginia Dick. Since Charlie was Julie’s father, her name is Julia “Julie” Dick. I hope my rambling answer helps! 😀
@lbw44742 жыл бұрын
Also! Since you’re an Elvis fan, I thought I’d share this cool piece of Patsy/Elvis trivia. The story goes that Patsy was back stage during Elvis’s first (and only) Grand Ole Opry appearance. While many country folks hated his style, Patsy fell in love with it. She remained a huge fan of his for the rest of her life. In return, he must have also been somewhat of a fan because he sent her flowers after she sustained injuries in a 1961 car crash.
