To truly appreciate this, realize she's singing her new hit song, on the Grand Ole Opry, the biggest stage in country music, on a live radio show in front of a live studio audience, looking stunningly beautiful and performing with a relaxed confidence. There is no autotune or computerized digitally-enhanced reverb or anything on that stage mic such as we have today. She's singing with a stage band who must follow her every nuance, but who may not have practiced that much with her, yet she matches every bit of timing absolutely synchronized with them. She hits every note with perfect pitch, enunciates every lyric flawlessly, layering in her particular 'vocal calisthenics', such as her vibrato, her 'vocal fry' in her emotionally 'groaning' transitions, and her sobbing/yodel/near-break _passaggio,_ 'flipping up' on some words between her chest and head voice, as if she's almost crying those notes. And that's not even mentioning everything, such as a firm diaphragm projecting full lungfuls of air, or as warm and rich and buttery a voice as has ever graced the stage. And besides all that, there's how she can inject a _feeling_ into the storytelling of the song that makes it totally believable to every adoring fan who's hanging onto every word, because they've memorized her hit record. Patsy Cline was a performer's performer! She was simply the best!

You are looking at it backwards, while I am one of Patsy Cline's greatest admirers, but in Patsy's day the big record companies/Studios would send out talent scouts all 'round the country looking for talent, the assumption being that the public would only buy records of those that had talent and real talent was rare and hard to find....then they realised that they were WRONG, so they stopped wasting their time looking for talent, the public will buy anything you tell them to buy.....Promotion sells records, not talent.....why they put on shows called "reality" TV, no talent, not production costs, no writers, no actors just a camera and it gets as many views as shows that cost millions to make.....It's called "Show business" most of the public think the emphasis is on the "Show" when the reality is the emphasis is on the Business......bottom line, the fault lies with the Public, not the industry, they only want to sell records, if no talent sells just as many(or more) records as Talent and there are many more "no talents" than there are "talents" and they are much easier to find........The Talent would still be out there today.....but no one cares anymore!..... If Rocks were worth as much as Gold....who would dig for gold?

Lee Ann Rimes got pretty close, but Patsy is still the best country singer of the female gender, in my book. I understand Bill Mack wrote "Blue" for Patsy, but she got killed before he got it to her, and he waited for something like 50 years for a voice that he felt could do the song. And along comes a teenager that hit it out of the park. Too bad Patsy never got a chance to sing it. She would have knocked it even further out of the park.

My Mom and Dad always listened to Patsy when I was a kid, we sang her songs. I remember the day she died, I was 8 yrs. old, my Mom and Dad cried. It was a very sad day. Patsy Cline has always been very special to me.

I was not alive during her time but my parents would play her songs and I fell in love with her voice. This was and is my all time favorite song of hers. She died way too young and we lost a great talent.

I know...right? My grandfather played this music every evening and all day Sunday as a child. As a mother I found myself singing it to my babies. I just hit play and I saw my now 14 ya old youngest smile and start humming along. Sweet sweet memories.

When I heard her sing this song recently, I thought it was just a really good recording. But this version proves that it's not the recording, it's that incredible voice and talent God gave her.

Thank God for Patsy Cline for singing a beautiful song written by my dear friend Willie Nelson ! A perfect match up even if her husband woke her up to bring Willie and Crazy in to have her take a listen! Love you Willie Hugh Nelson! Diana Armstrong from Indiana!

I still remember listening to her singing this song when I was just a kid I am now 78 years old, just to give you an idea as to how old her song really is! They even had it on a jukebox with flip machines at each booth in the restaurants way back then, anyone else remembers them?
