Let’s be clear; Thailand is a developing country. This standard of housing is better than many locals enjoy. With the money you save on a place like this, you could pay for a five day membership at the Siam Country Club ( which hosts tour events). Isn’t that the point of the Cheap Charlie lifestyle? Pursuing your life, on limited resources, without financial distress? Seems like a great option to me. Thanks for posting.

I'd like to add a 🗨COMMENT that I have had now for a while.📆 These videos💻 are nearly priceless.💲🙂 You walk the selected living quarters with videos showing the arrangements🛋, space🛏, and accoutrements🛀 of each room, especially the kitchenettes. I've noticed that most of the kitchenettes include a 2-burner cook top included in the countertops, a big plus. And, THEN, you add more narrative describing additional facts on what is on the screen at the moment, including the pools.🏊 Plus, those maps are a great addition.👌😀 Btw, your video on the BOLT 🚐taxi service eliminates many problems for first time visitors. Thx. This service would be very costly 💰 without you. Thank you.🙂

Excellent, Good stuff and very interesting, I love this channel. As an experienced Pattaya guy, if you are going there on holiday for a month or two etc then I think that these apartments tend to be a better option that a hotel. Having lived in Pattaya for 2 years previously my plan is to just holiday there now on occasion. *** Warning *** My only concern with apartments and trust me this is a serious concern is the deposit. You may not get it back if it is held by the anonymous owner. I would either pay a 1) Small deposit that you can afford/expect to loose. 2) No deposit but slightly higher rate or 3) The deposit is held by the admin in a safe in the reception. Be careful, most never get the deposit back. They look for tiny or fictitious damage and give a high repair cost to justify keeping it. You will have absolutely zero chance of fighting it.

I think it would be interesting to have a look at the typical apartments that Thai people live in. I assume they do not have swimming pools or fancy gyms. The cost must be much less than 8,000 baht per month. Some budget conscious long term expats could be staying in these as well.

Checkout the View Talay Condos, all very well maintained and the grounds are bigger with very good security. I’ve stayed in View Talay 2B and 5C and have been ok for me! Some are owned by foreigners with up to date fixtures! I swim in the pool nearly everyday! Average size of the studios are 48sqm and there are one bedrooms that are larger. Price will vary from 8,000 to 12,000 or more depends on the fixture and fittings! These prices could go up once Thailand opens up more, all depends on the market

Yep VT2B has a great big pool and most of the expats that live there use the pool daily…used to be a cafe there too. The older condos have bigger rooms unlike the modern shoeboxes they build nowadays!! Plus the annual maintenance fees are much better too.

But both VT2 and 5 are far away from big suppermarket stores like those larger size Big C and Lotus's stores right? I would be interested to know if these old condos are for sale ( I saw one opposite the 2 bedroom one as you came out seemed to have ForSale on it) and how much the monthly maintenance charge is. It could be worth buying a second hand condo to retire in if you believe you are going to stay there the rest of your life and hedging against inflation and currency exchange. No point buying for renting out as there are too many empty condos in Pattaya and can never see them being filled in the future.

@Pat B Some very good points you made there. You can see how fast some of the condo complexes fall apart due to lack of maintenance. This is probably due to lack of condo owners paying the service charges. I would not even consider buying anything with more than 7 floors.

I saw the similar 1 bedroom split on opposite side with view of Pattaya Tower (and the parking lot of View Talay 1) on 7th floor (53sqm.) Selling for 1,500,000 thb. You know these low rent prices are not going to last. As soon as everything opens up most will be greedy and try to make up for their losses. Do you think that the unit is worth it to buy? Maybe could offer less? What is your opinion about the idea. Thanks.

Daz will say don't buy but if you do price not to bad if foreign name. Normal price 35000 to 42000 m2 you can drop them more though.

@@111isok Thanks for that. Yes I know management is very important. I know I had condo in New York with bad management big problems until new company took over was better after. Of course offer lower price. Owner can always say no or counter offer. I did hear View Talay 1 or 2 is managed good but unit are only 28 to 32sqm. Thanks again.

Hi Daz… what is the average electric bill? Assuming you run the air 24/7 (lol). Just trying to get an average, maybe your experience per month would be great. Thanks!

Mine is about 1500 baht ($ 45 ) per month But I don't run the air in the daytime, just open all the windows and let the breeze cool the place.

My bill is 15$ a month..... Add 100$ if you run the air. Buying close to the ocean and opening your balcony doors for the breeze and fresh air is common.

Yeah, used bed mattresses really make me cringe. I think I would opt to buy a top mattress for a 3- month or longer stay. Same here in the States, Carib., south of the border, or EU. One of your videos showed a foam store selling foam mattresses.
