Cant wait to see your completed projects, no pressure 😅. I love the green velvet, so perfect for covering your dining chairs. I like that you listened and responded to the feeling that you got from mr. Lurker, we get those feelings for a reason, its so important to tune in to it and stay safe.

Oh wow…thanks for the bias shout out, Casey! 💜 It caught me off guard, as was so engrossed in the pleated top - it’s looking so pretty. Very excited for this one! And what a perfect fabric for those chairs. They look like they could be in a period drama!

Of course!! I really loved the way you explained it--I consider myself a problem solver but I had given up on the continuous bias tape method at least a couple of times before. I feel like I have a new superpower haha! The chairs have me excited to finally do something with my dining room!

I love this style of video! It's so fun to see all the varied creative things you get up to, so thanks for taking us along. I used to force myself to work on just one garment till it was finished, but I've found it works better for me if i can switch between different things, so i don't get stuck and make nothing at all just because one project has stalled. Looking forward to your next video for updates on these and some new stuff too. Feel free to keep taking us thrifting with you. I really enjoy the vicarious shopping - it blows my mind how massive US thift stores are compared to our tiny charity shops here in the UK. But it's still always about luck, timing, persistence and patience.

I'm so glad! Thanks for watching! And yes to working on multiple projects--I feel the same. So easy to get stalled trying to find motivation to totally complete one project quickly. When I get a little tired of a project, I can work on something else and come back to it which keeps me so much more motivated and excited!

I'm figuring that you have found out by now, that with pants you use your waist measurement for the top waist area and then for the rest of the pants you use your hip measurement. I'm having a hard time trying to get the system to work for me. Like you said if you are even a little bit off it makes a difference. Thank you for your videos, I really enjoy them.

I was told the ones with the dark symbol is for fuller figures. They don't fit as well for slim people. I use this system all the time but without that symbol size.
@PatternScout
@PatternScout Жыл бұрын
In the book, it does state that the dark symbol is "especially suitable for fuller figures" but I think they are still ok for slimmer figures. I only had to adjust the waist, a common adjustment for me.

I’m still watching the video so I apologize if you go over this, but I think your bust measurement is to be used for the waist and everything above and your hip for anything below. And maybe that doesn’t matter in some cases. Just a thought.

I really enjoyed your video. The chair cushions look beautiful. Just a thought on your Lutterloh pattern. I think I read in my instructions that for the bust and waist you use the bust measurement. Anything below the waist you use the bust. You might not have had to change the pattern so much. Look forward to seeing more from you.
@PatternScout
@PatternScout Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm guessing the patterns in the kit use industry standard Bust/Waist/Hip ratios, and since my ratios don't match the industry standard, I usually end up with the waist needing adjusting.

I looked up the Lutterloh system from a previous link. I would like to make sure I get one that includes basic patterns. Did you get the 280 pattern kit? When I looked at what was included, they seem to be mostly very dated. And also the one they had for sale doesn’t have as many accessories as yours

Oh, I see you cut the front and back of the vintage dress in different directions on the fabric (the top facing different directions). I've always wondered if that's OK or not. Does this mean it is or is it better to let the top of all pieces face the same direction if possible? And is there a difference between woven and knitted fabric?
@PatternScout
@PatternScout Жыл бұрын
Since that fabric has a multi-directional print, I can go in either direction as long as I keep it on grain. With a woven or knit fabric you typically want to keep pattern pieces on grain, in the up/down direction parallel to the selvedge (using the grainline on the pattern pieces as a guide for placement). On very few occasions I have cut a knit pattern off grain if it is a 4-way stretch and I'm limited on yardage. Hope that helps! :)

Well...it includes 280 patterns haha, so that comes out to about 53 cents per pattern, I definitely didn't love every single pattern, though, maybe 30 or so that I would consider making. That is still about $9 per pattern, which is cheaper than buying most patterns individually.
