Fair warning Overlord can be a bit of a turn off for some people if you expect the MC to be a good person. I wouldn't say they are the worse person ever, but they are playing the role of a villain and this isn't some oh the villains aren't that bad kind of series.

We can't really harp on anime tropes too much, when basicly every single romantic drama and romantic comedy in the west, boils down to the exact same formula... But to us in the west, those tropes are more just a part of our culture, so it's less obvious to us just how tropey they actually are. But with anime, they originate in an entirely different culture, so it clashes with our own "normal" way of thinking, so tropes tend to stick out much more to us in anime.

Just like many other actions, mishaps, incidents, and innuendos. Whether or not someone can or can’t see beyond what’s before them is all on how you take it. “That’s what she said.” A couple of western examples are: a shower scene that comes out of nowhere and might not really serve a point to the overall plot or a couple of guys getting stripped naked and made to run through the streets after losing a fight. The absurdity of it might be enough to kindle someone’s tenders or simply get them to bust a gut laughing. Unless everything that can be construed as sexual makes you uncomfortable, ecchi isn’t really as bad as most people make it out to be. It’s just another thing in anime and manga that’s lost in translation. The funniest thing is that I realized this because of Fire Force and its fanservice, as well as Soul Eater. There’s literally complexes throughout each character, including fanservice moments.

I love isekai for a very simple reason: even if the unique elements are horrible, the baseline is often interesting enough to make good trash food. So the peaks of isekai are often amongst the greatest peaks of anime (Re:Zero, Mushoku Tensei, Youjo Senki, etc), but the lowest ditches between them are still at least about sea level. You might get bored of walking the floodplanes waiting for a mountain but you'll never quite drown.

Being a slice of life lover, the appeal is simple but complex for younger people. It's why most seinen are slice of life and the other way. It's character focus, and relationship focus. The only essential things for a good story. Reality is that action scenes in Anime are mostly fanservice, so sols are more focus on the emotional meat without extra useless scenes. And yeah,slice of life is usually a component of every good truly emotional Anime.

I would say Powerpuff Girls the show is not like a magical girl anime, as the girls don't transform from normal people into superheroes, but instead have their powers all the time. Powerpuff Girls Z, the anime reboot of PPG, is a magical girls show, as the girls do have a transformation sequence they have to go through before using their powers. Also, shout out to the creator for using music from one of the best PS2 games ever, Okami, during the fantasy genre explanation.

Fullmetal Alchemist is a Must Watch! Vinland Saga is for Mature Audience not just becouse of the bloody Battles, but also becouse it hits you in the gut with Philosophie. I tried to read Berserk. It is great, but i need a break after 6-10 chapters becouse of all the SA and depressing Situations. "Devil is a Parttimer" is a reverse Isekai, where the Demon Lord lands in modern Japan. One of the reasons Harem is usually looked down on is also cuz of its over saturation. Seeing the popularity of such a genre, many mangakas also used it as a tool to stretch the story or extend materials. Many times Harem is also a after thought. When done good it can be a huge boost for the anime but usually its just there. Comedy is one such genre which utilizes harem the best. One of a good example is 100 Gfs but that series is more of a parody of mordern harem troupes so I will recommend Mangaka-kun and Assistant-san. The Harem in the show is not to bring friction in relationship but rather to show more funny interactions of the super pathetic and perverted mc. The members are all unique and also their different reaction to mc antics is generally enjoyable. Tho the manga is better in general in these cases The author is Hiroyuki(same author of Aho Girl, and Kanojo mo Kanojo) and this is one of his earlier works. Another great example is Seitokai Yakiuindomo. The show is very good but I suggest you watch a good sub cuz most jokes will go over your head unless you know the context whihc some subs do.

Few manga/anime examples: Dark Green (manga, 1982; not exactly game, but a "dream"/different reality, but it works very similarily) Bugtte Honey (anime, 1986) Network Senshi (manga, 1986) Player wa Nemurenai (manga, 1993) Kokuritsu Hakubutsukan Monogatari (manga, 1993)

Meaning it popularized something/exposed enough viewers/readers/writers to an idea that writers had to invest less time into exploring the idea in order to use it as a basis for whatever more specific variations they wish to built off of it, or readers/viewers began using it as shorthand to better understand new works. The Dark Souls effect. Dark Souls invented no new concepts, but it took its concepts to such heights of public knowledge that it began to be used as a basis for understanding other works. Some were deliberate ("lets make Dark Souls but Star Wars"), some were independent entirely and just treated as Souls-Like by certain reviewers or new players ("what's the game like? uh, imagine Dark Souls but Star Wars"). But it essentially acted as a new headliner for its subdivision of the genre, whether it wanted to or not and whether it was the first or not.

If you are gonna experience Sword Art Online, i personally recommend reading the Light Novel over watching the anime. You want a cool isekai? My uncle from another world. Ive not personally finished it but the premise is an isekai protagonist after his journey. Story starts with the protagonist waking up in the real world from his isekai coma. The world god only knows mentioned! One of my first anime and still one of my favorites. Its so good, really recommend it. On that note i have a contractual obligation to fufil... an anime i will always and i mean always recommend is Yakitate! Japan. A boy, Azuma Kazuma, wants to bake a bread japan can be proud of to call their own like french bread of german bread hence japan, its a pun. One of my favorite comedies of all time, one of my favorite shounen. Its probably up there for my favorite anime. Shout out to my friend in the 6th grade for showing me that clip of it, wasn't interested at the time entirely because i was in a "im too old for cartoons" phase but ive since watched it and loved it.

Yeah that is the exactly what the series is about, the amount of people who shit on it that I have seen because it has a few questionable scenes with certain characters and calling it a series for predators is absurd. Like they are really nitpicking hard at that point.

guren lagan can't be a realistic mecha anime because the robots can get to the size of the univers and they can stransform. in Gundam (well most of them), the robots are actual mechanic entities that are piloted by a person. they will not throw magic elements, they will not transform like a metamorph, if they get destroyed, they need to get rebuilt, they can't just spawn another one.

4:47 Im not really sure what you’re distinguishing here- through its whole runtime, I’m not gonna lie, MHA’s bloody all over the place, a lesser extent earlier on, but very much larger extent later on. And honestly, all the other sortsa stuff he described for seinen, themes of revenge, littered with child abuse, limbs getting lost and mass homicide (one of the reasons it took my no.1 spot from Avatar tbh, didn’t feel too kiddy for someone in 20’s to me at all, but still has plenty of the childlike qualities that my inner kid still loves). And that’s just what I’ve seen all of- from a couple snapshots I’ve seem from it, apparently Naruto can be way worse in regards to blood and stuff. Makes these lines between these two seem a bit too blurry to a point of little significance for me ngl. So I can’t see how blood imagery is restricted to adult anime (for the better imo, I think there should be less seen wrong with simply ‘having blood’ in age 14-ish demographic stuff. Not that it’s necessary or anything, Avatar proves it ain’t, just it shouldn’t be such a huge deal I mean.)
