A LOT of people get the more "boring" story segments mixed up as Filler. For Example: the characters taking a break at a hotspring / beach / whatever, but discussing relatively important story elements is NOT filler. Funny enough when it comes to the FMA 2003 anime original ending I remember reading somewhere that the author actually told them to create their own original ending as well as the majority of the anime being original because they wanted the anime to be its own thing that was different from what they had in mind for the manga.

My personal take on fanservice is it doesn't always have to be inherently sexual to be classed as fanservice it just as be something the fans really want. For an example of this when yugioh GX came out i remember so many talks from friends and even the yugioh community itself talking about who would win in a duel between Yami/Yugi and Jaiden which eventually did actually end up happening and fans popped off massively.

17:31 A lot of people don’t really seem to get that the “Power of Friendship” thing is simply a character recognizing that them losing in that moment means the end of everything - usually the end of the world and the death of all those loved ones and friends who can’t be there fighting alongside them. It’s not just a “power boost” that comes out of nowhere. It’s literal hysterical strength because you have to be a little crazy to actually pick a fight with someone who could actually destroy the world.

Well made filler does a good job of fleshing out character designs, backstories, and world building. And, while the filler can't be a major plot driving event, it absolutely can add extra wrinkles to future plot points that didn't exist in the original manga. A greatvexample is in Naruto, where Hinata's romantic relationship with Naruto started as filler but later had a major effect in a variety of future events...and even altered the planned manga event itself, as the ongoing manga creator saw how popular the romance was and added aspects of it to the manga where it wasn't originally intended. 😊

I like overpowered Main Characters in general, but the main reason is because of how less tense things around them can get. That way, it allows for more fun and comedy, as well as getting to know characters better without the threat that their backstory is signaling their death. In general, I prefer to laugh and just see something cool rather than be upset and frustrated by all of the dramatics.

A few things- The 03 FMA anime ended 5 years before the manga finished (FMA Brotherhood started airing just before the final chapter of the manga was released) . The missing father thing in anime is attributed to japanese work culture, where fathers in japan are the primary worker in the family and work insane schedules (often with times where they are sent overseas for months on end) so it is the mother that is primarily the one raising the child. The mangakas grew up like that, so make their characters have a similar experience.

18:54 I’d say that 7 times out of 10, the “fanservice” in Fire Force actually serves a narrative purpose. 9 times out of 10, it’s about some kind of joke. And 10 times out of 10, if you’re aroused, distracted, or disturbed, it’s just as much on you as it is what you’re seeing and how you process it. Maki is an overachiever, who just so happened to do so with her muscles. Now, she has a complex about it because, while she worries that it’s common amongst everyone, she herself believes that a woman should be petite and delicate. Tamaki’s power is based off of the black cat superstition, but instead of her bringing bad luck to anyone whose path she crosses, she’s the one who ends up unlucky, in some way. When it’s an opponent she intends to fight, it actually comes off more lucky for her. At some point, Iris joined Arthur in being a blonde joke. It’s just like how in Soul Eater, just about every character is meant to have a complex or something that makes them a little off, or even full blown crazy. It’s all about how they manage it to either live with it or overcome it.
@JamesP76 ай бұрын
Personally, I think the coolest timeskip in an anime I’ve seen was A Lull in the Sea. It especially works since certain characters didn’t “age” and the character dynamics/relationships became all the more complex.
@ShredAimlessly926 ай бұрын
I really appreciate times skips when they are used well since it gives the main cast opportunity to move on from whatever villain or hardship they are fighting, to grow a bit and power up a bit, and then facing a new challenge that might be more difficult… instead of having the same little kids fighting bigger and bigger demons or sometimes deities. Dragon Ball Z handles it very well since the story of Goku is also the story of his son Gohan growing up and becoming a man like his dad.

I hate that people act like Kirito is in anyway OP for no reason at all. In fact he's not really OP. In the fight against the Gleam Eyes, The Gleam eyes already had low HP, he was just strong enough to solo the rest of the HP of like half of the final health bar without anyone else dying, even then he barely had any HP left. And then with the fight against the Titan's hand guild, he was a front line runner with high hp and high defenses, plus the healing 600 of his 14K health every 10 seconds, is not that much, he was just overpowered for a group of guys who preyed on weaker players. Of course he would be OP to people over 30 levels weaker than him.

Mirio and his friends would of course have left UA way too soon, and THAT woulda sucked real hard. So whilst there could of course have been plenty of potential from doing it differently, making the thing actually last the 3 years like I was expecting it would when I started, that could be said about literally anything in any setting, and Lemillion woulda been quite a big loss imo.

14:59 The “no parents” or lack of adult supervision is extremely common in media targeting young people, including more western media. The point is that, obviously, if responsible adults got involved, there wouldn’t really be a need for a plucky kid to go out on adventures of discovery, growth, and understanding of themselves and the world around them. Also, kids, specifically teenagers, are commonly used as main characters because they’re inexperienced enough that they likely won’t know the best way to deal with whatever situation they might get themselves into, young enough that they can bounce back quickly, young enough that they likely don’t have any serious responsibilities, yet, with teenagers, old enough that it really shouldn’t be a surprise when they begin to deal with more adult matters and showing maturity.

Slapstick is unfortunately misused a LOT of the time. It’s often when a guy accidentally walks in on a girl changing, or trips and accidentally brushes her breasts or something, and the girl responds by beating the guy up. Worst part is, it only ever happens to guys. I’ve never seen it happen to girls. Another trope that Konosuba makes fun of by saying “if you think I’m just going to let you beat me up because of a mistake, then you’ve got another thing coming” (or something). The misuse of this trope actually pisses me off a lot, and sometimes even ruins an anime because it’s used too often.

10:52 Unless it’s an original, the whole point of the anime is to drum up attention and more sales for the manga or light novels it is based on. If the anime were to beat the manga or novel to the ending, and it was the exact one that’s going to be appearing in the manga or novels anyway, it’d become pointless to even continue reading for most people. Not everyone is die hard enough to collect everything about series they like.

So I’ve been hearing a lot of people hate on fire force for its fan service, and I agree but The fan service was only for a singular character and at least they made it in a way understandable as the character had a power or a type of bad luck which made it so fan service occurred. And the only reason I find it reasonable is because they used it in the plot for when the final fights occurred. So her fan service bad luck played a huge role in the story Edit: this is just my opinion but I believe fire force fan service was done right because at least they made it relevant to the plot and explained why her clothes always ripped off.

Fire Force is great, the fanservice is what I most dislike in it, but I think people should not let a stupid gag stop them from enjoying the show. I can also confidently say that although a bad trope, it does it better than any other show for me, because for the most part it's not done as a "oh look at the body of this character", and more as a gag making fun of it especially from how ridiculous the ways the clothes come off are. (sadly this is most of the time and not all the time, sometimes like in the Shinra vs the star eyed dude where the clothes get burned is not only bad but with awful timing) There is some comentary on this from the character's perspective later on, perhaps in season 3 once it comes out. I can ignore those moments and enjoy everything else FF has to offer. If it really bothers you though, I can respect that.
