Yes, right before natural death there is already some form of decay happening inside the body and some cats can smell when that happens. I know the story you mention. It was about a cat in a nursing home who hangs around the elders right before they die. Possibly because he liked the smell of decaying old people.

There's a reason why the Egyptians, one of the smartest, most advanced and best of the ancient civilizations worshipped cats as gods. In some folklore in various cultures since the beginning of human history there has been old myths saying cats are either the life bringer or the harbinger of death. Prominently in the modern day there's one culture that says when a person is close to death they will have a cat that everyone else can see follow them around that they can not see.

Not to mention, there was a cat named Oscar who was brought to nursing home for old, terminaly ill people by one of the employees, who found it as a little kitty and tought cat would be good for the residents (since this wasn´t a hospital, the sterility rules weren´t so strict). Well, Oscar adjusted well, and was liked by all... but he had the ability to literaly predict death - he would know which of the residents there would die very soon and spend time with them. He was almost never wrong.

About cats smacking dogs... yes, that´s true. One day we all along with our dogs and cat were hanging in our backyard. Catto found a patch of dirt, dig a little hole and relieved herself, then covered it up again. Our golden retriever Bella, 1,5 years old at that time and still with some of that pup curiosity, went to immediately look what the cat did. She dig up her hole again, sniffed. When she was done, Mikky (the cat), who was watching it returned to cover it again. Then she went to Bella, gave her one strong smack on the face, and went away with the head and tail held high (Bella was so consterned with what happened she didn´t even react). 😀

It's most likely a mistake on his end during the stream. He probably has a stream deck or some sort of macros to switch from facecam fullsize or to the small in the corner for the video and another button to use to enhance his facecam when its in the corner so he can emphasize something without doing full screen and he just accidentally used it during full screen facecam instead of when the facecam is in the corner, it lines up perfectly to the dimensions of corner facecam

If it's any consolation, the reason why people tend to find cat owners more attractive has more to do with being more understanding. If you're able to bond with a cat, that shows not only maturity but also willingness to give way, listen, and have a basic comprehension of consent. Of course it's not always true, just like owning a dog doesn't always mean you are responsible and all that jazz, but that's the psychology behind it.

I've heard loads of stories about dogs and cats travelling miles to follow their owners to new houses (though never as far as 1600 miles lol) I assume it's probably because of their sense of smell? Pretty sure our scent trails hang around for months as long as their's little rain.

I have heard from people who were allergic to cats that when their significant other had a cat and they were there most of the time the allergy would flare up first in all its viciousness, but that through time and enough exposure it lessened, due to the body's adaptability.

@@djokealtena2538 I have a friend who had four cats when I was younger, and each time I went over her house my allergies would flare up almost immediately. My reactions weren’t life threatening, but I did eventually have to stop going to her house because my reactions became a bit too much to handle. However, I used to have a cat when I was much younger before knowing I was allergic, and he gave me hives. We had to give him away. Although, my brother-in-law’s mother has a cat and I never reacted around her, so it’s possible that my exposure to my friend’s cats as a kid caused me to adapt. It’s also possible that his mother kept her house much cleaner than my friend did so I had much less exposure to the fur. But as they live in the Netherlands where as far as I’m aware they don’t believe much in medicine treating minor sicknesses, I didn’t want to take the chance of touching the cat in case that adaptation theory was very incorrect and I got hives for the whole trip

I'm betting the stats that say men with cats are less attractive is just polling boomers. Millennial & gen z women love men/women with cats! My esa cat warned me of an impending "widow maker" heart attack just this last June. Normally, if he is pawing at me, he wants "cookies" (treats), "cuddles" (in my arms), or "snuggles"(under the blanket between my knees), however for 3 hours he kept pawing at me, preventing me/my muscle relaxers from entering deep sleep. Around 7 am, when his pile of treats was still untouched & he was still pawing/staring at me, I suddenly felt my heart being squeezed/twisted with pain in all my extremities (head, neck, legs, arms, worst in right arm). Since I was awake, I was able to immediately know I was having a heart attack as this was much worse than the galbladder attack I've had in the past & had stereotypical symptoms. Called 911, used the chewable aspirin (thanks health anxiety for having those in emergency med kit by door with spare albuteterol) dose they told me to use, grabbed my bag that was already packed with stuff from visit to my brother, & in all of 30 min time from start of attack, I was being rushed to ER with heart monitor "suggesting attack" & nitroglycerin taken, easing heart pain completely! Had to have a stent put in & found out I have side effects (severe coughing which causes migraine) & very little pain relief on fentanyl, but felt fine after the cough subsided. My chronic pain stress was only "risk factor" I had for heart disease & in my late 30's was 1st in even extended family to have any heart issues. So, can confirm cats can sense health changes, as well as figure out ways to tell you are listening. In fact, even before the heart attack, the same esa cat had been laying across my neck offn& on for about 6 months before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. He stopped about a month after being treated & 2x since has laid on my neck when I had accidentally forgotten to take the medication or was taking too low of a dose due to medication changes that got my medication organization all out of whack. I will also add on the topic of non personal experience cat health benefits, that although cats can heal themselves with purring, due to the different density of human bones & inability to simulate full body vibrations like cats can, the theory doesn't really make sense about cat purrs healing humans. It has also been tested & there has been no evidence that it works on humans either. Its more myth than anything, but people like to feel its true, which is silly since cats increasing oxytocin does have evidence to it & cat love is much better than just cat purrs in my view!

The funny thing about the falling study is that it's a way to introduce you to sampling bias. It's based on all the cats that make it to the vet. So the increase in survival rates at higher distance falls could be explained away as all the more serious landings just killing the cat. They never make it to the vet to lower the survival rate while with falls that aren't lethal, more serious landings would still get them sent to the vet.

My cats meow at each other. They do little mrrps, mrows, and the "kekeke" sounds at each other. Of course they are also literal family as their mom was pregnant and I kept all 5 babies and her. So they are quite attached to each other.

I think the funniest part is that their mom is very clearly the top cat. She eats first and will slap her babies if they try to eat before her. Her babies clean her face and follow her around. She even knows all their names and if I say "go find Poof", she will go to Poof. I even can yell at one of her kids for getting into something and she will slap them and chase them to me. It is the cutest thing. The babies are 4 years old.

This healing stuff..i refused a long time to believe it. But then the mother from my ex boyfriends childhood friend got breastcancer and she had a cat too. I loved this fluffy thing and she never stopped laying on the mothers chest. A few months later she won the war, well at least she was cancerfree for like two years. And when she healed she noticed that something was wrong with her cat. They vent to the vet - cancer. Exactly in the same spot where the mother got it before. Since then i made up my mind. Ive got myself a cat. Shes special cuz she ist just a social fluffbeing who loves cuddles. She never attacked me randomly, shes just chill. And everytime i feel down or start crying she comes to me, seeking attention so that i concentrate on something else. 💖 16:10

When it comes to toxoplasmosis in humans there aren’t really any know affects asides from potentially causing people to make more risky decisions however even that isn’t confirmed for it, the only risk it seems to actually pose is when if someone who is pregnant gets it during that. Consider this; Humans didn't regularly socialise with cats until 10000 years ago. 10000 years ago was also when development and innovation started accelerating. Could it be possible that being slightly more prone to accept and take risks might be the reason we accelerated our technological and societal development ever since we started hanging out with cats? Could it be that cats, although inadvertently by infecting us with the parasite, might be a major contributing factor to modern humanity's drive for new and exciting things?

That thing would bite/claw you if you did not pet it when wanted, and the first sign it was done wanting pets? Biting/clawing you again. So, my father has a lot of cats, and once, before he had a heart failure, the cat sudde ly got on top of him, on his chest, started purring and he felt better When he told us we said may as well take a check up, see if there was anything He had the signs of a heart failure started but didnt compleatly went throug, the cat healed him My father is still alive and anytime they do that he now inmediatly goes and last time, they found he had cancer starting in his colon, had, he is already out So yes, Cats are cheat healing machines
