The Gundam shown in the video was the Wing Gundam, and the Geodude was dressed like its pilot, Hiiro Yuy. There's a lot of monents in _Gundam Wing_ when Hiiro considers activating his Gundam's self-destruct to keep it from falling into enemy hands. That's the joke. That's why Geodude didn't just use the rail gun.
