I was hunting shiny Nidoran in Let's Go. As soon as I finished the combo and went into the air, SHINY DRAGONITE. I masterballed it when it did that final "I'm about to flee" animation. Didn't wanna risk losing it.

Ace Trainer Liam accidentally released a Shiny Applin after breeding for it. He was talking with his chat and he was releasing all the non Shiny Applin and he released the Shiny by mistake and then he realized it because the chat pointed it out to him. Luckily he reclaimed it.

8:51 I'm pretty sure the game ended up freezing because of the way he slammed his DS shut here. It would happen to me pretty frequently when I was a child, because I had to share my DS with my siblings and we were all pretty rowdy with it; but if the game cartridge gets dislodged even _slightly_ from its intended position, the game will freeze. That's why I _always_ avoided closing the DS mid-game, or if I had to, did it as gently as possible. Doing it that roughly would nearly always cause the game to freeze. Turning off the system and taking the cartridge out, then putting it back in (blowing on the contacts for good measure) would always fix the problem, but of course by then, it would be too late for any game data you didn't save. As rough as this sounds, he's really only got himself to blame here. It's his own fault the game froze.

Hey Patterz, that 50 shiny fail compilation is from a youtuber that made many shiny fail compilations that even included his own fails. Its also how I came to know the heartbreak of your famous...and infamous zekrom fail. Sadly all but 1 or 2 compilations were deleted from his channel

Shiny failing actually kills me on the inside but I must say I am one of the lucky few to fail a shiny fail. I found a shiny Spiritomb in the Friend Safari and I went on to try and fight it. For context, my 3DS has a broken touch screen in which dead areas in the touch screen will register somewhere else. Me, forgetting that detail, tried to touch fight but it registered as hitting run instead. I cried for a solid second to find out that since I Pokemon bank’d all my Pokémon into Gen 7, my leading party Pokémon was a level 23 Keckleon. The run failed, so I checked my party and switched out for a level 50 Dragonair that was left behind. I threw a ball and that was that

I've told this story before, but I failed a shiny chingling in platinum due to me catching it, not saving, and it froze a couple days later. I'm not sure how that happened in my case, but in RK9's case, shutting the DS very fast like that could cause the game to freeze

I almost ran out of pokeballs during a shiny encounter, it was super nervewraking. But I just didn't expect it! I was just leveling up my team when a shiny marill randomly appeared and I only had two pokeballs, when the first one failed I was freaking out, luckily my last one worked. Don't know how I got so lucky, plus this was the day after getting a shiny ralts via the Matsuda method so I really didn't expect to get a second shiny. It would have been an hilarious fail.

Okay, so you all might not believe me but this is my story: I was about 9-10 years old and playing Heartgold. I was reseting for Mewtwo, not because of shiny hunting but because I kept running out of pokeballs. After about my 4th reset, this really strange Mewtwo appeared. You guessed it, it had a green tail and did a sparkle animation. 9-year old me thought "hey that's a weird colour bug". I tried to capture it of course, and every time that sparkle came up after it broke free I simply went "What is going on? What is this G L I T C H?!". I had a masterball since I hadn't had to use it once yet (Idk what I was saving it for but we all do stupid shit when we're 9), but after I had once again ran out of normal pokeballs, ultra balls and everything inbetween.. I did indeed press that power button. I was even relieved when I saw that the next Mewtwo didn't suffer from that weird colour-pallet bug. Years later I would honestly go back in time and kill 9-year old me for being stupid, and because I myself don't want to live with this mistake.

I’ve only ever failed 3 Shiny Pokémon. First was a Shuckle in Pokémon Go. I sprung a lure or incense not realizing I was low on supplies. Found a Shiny Shuckle with 202 CP, couldn’t catch it even with my mom helping me, we spun the stop to get more supplies, tried and failed a second time, went to spin the stop a third time, and the Shiny was gone. I did get a second Shiny Shuckle that day with 88 CP and I successfully caught that one. My second fail was in HeartGold in the Safari Zone. I found a Tauros while cleaning my box in Pokémon Go. I almost didn’t realize him because I was paying more attention to Go, but when I looked at my screen and saw him I was shocked. I set my phone aside and proceeded to try and catch him. Threw a Safari Ball, shook once, but he popped out and stayed. Threw a second Safari Ball, shook once, he popped out and fled. My third fail was in Let’s Go Eevee. I was chaining for female Nidoran but got a male Shiny instead. I did encounter him and posted about it in a Facebook group, but then after I posted it I intentionally ran from him because I didn’t want to break my chain.

More shiny fails, count me in. I also remember perhaps the worst shiny fail I’ve had. I had already gotten my Shiny Magby and evolved it into Magmar. Then me and my brother traded so I could get Magmortar. It evolves in his Sun copy, we’re in the middle of trading back, and an error occurs. We open back up the game, mine works fine, but my brothers copy of sun got corrupted, permanently. So I managed to lose a shiny due to a save corruption that wasn’t even my game. (I got another one though).
