wow Pat! i can't believe you aren't up to speed on the Mister! in short, i have three Misters and i sold all of my NES and SNES collection. it is that good! there is nothing about the super station that Sony can sue for. when you buy one, it can't do anything out of the box, you have to make an sd card and setup the Mister software. it almost sounds like you want these guys to get shut down. one of my 3 Misters is Taki Udon's MisterPi and it works perfectly. join the FPGA club and ditch your collection and cash in on your physical media!
@FreddyKruegerRealEstate7 күн бұрын
I was a mister early adopter in late 2018/19 (was interested before that in the MIST). It's been _very interesting_ watching the platform evolved, the cores appear and develope - and people who swore they would never buy one because it was _real hardware_ or nothing for them (making fun of the price too): now evangelizing for it almost a decade later, and owning multiple FPGAs. The amount of people who think Mister is a newer platform is funny too me as well.
@marccaselle81086 күн бұрын
Mister is far too expensive for what it is. 300 for the base plus what 200 or 300 for all the extra add ons. That's for rich people.
@terrylaze62476 күн бұрын
The shell design and the controller/memcard ports are probably under copyright so they could go after taki for that, but for the software side you are right, although it says it does already come with the sd card preinstalled, but without any copyrighted material on it, those have to be downloaded separately.
@FreddyKruegerRealEstate6 күн бұрын
*@Marccel* It was $500 when Mister first was in early adoption. Super expensive. I think I spent around $700 for the various IO boards, snac, adapters etc. these days it's so much more inexpensive - even though $300 (and $200 for MisterPi) is pricy. FPGA should continue will become cheaper in the next few years. I am DEFINITELY NOT rich. I sold ALOT of my real retro hardware and games during the bubble and bought a Mister, paid a bunch of my debts and later got nice new PC (instead of PS5) for my modern gaming.

Iain Lee used to be on the telly here, Thumb Bandits and 11 O'clock Show main ones for me but i know he does fair bit of radio too. Those interviews he has with the non scammer guy are interesting viewing. I really hope Sega offer something different with the potential subscription service, like their arcade greats, Outrun 2, Golden Axe arcade, just dump all of them on their to play for a montly fee... Even the Mahjong online game for Ian to enjoy 👍

Maybe a new SEGA console??? Probably not but it’d be cool to see it.
@FreddyKruegerRealEstate7 күн бұрын
_Definitely_ No new console. Consoles are dying, and everyone is going multiplatform or service based. Sega is more likely to launch their own digital platform (maybe with a sub?) or a launcher.
@Deshayzilla4 күн бұрын
The SuperStation One likely won’t include any ROMs or BIOS files. While it may come with the MiSTer’s main OS and all available cores, you’ll probably need to source the necessary BIOS files yourself-just like with all MiSTer systems, including the one previously sold by RetroRemake. Additionally, there hasn’t been much clarification on how the CD drive will function with the current PSX core. The system itself looks great, and it’s exciting to see a MiSTer setup designed to resemble a traditional console. However, I remain a bit skeptical about how well the CD implementation will work.

I disagree with Pat on the whole "Take sonic out and they are just Atari" argument. Sega has the Persona series, and more importantly the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. I think you're underestimating how huge those series are
@BrandonArnold07 күн бұрын
26:30 I disagree with Ian on this one. The SuperStation is taking a page out of the Analogue playbook by making a system that plays PlayStation disks and accepts a PlayStation controller by default, with HDMI, and “just works.” This is just like the Mega Sg, Super Nt, and Nt Mini, but for PS1. They distinguish themselves from Analogue in the marketing material by saying you don’t have to jailbreak the system to play cores for other systems, which you need to do for Analogue devices. Taki’s MiSTer Pi product on the same site is directly meant to be a cheaper MiSTer, but the SuperStation is going to smooth over and hide away some of the aspects of MiSTer that less computer savvy gamers people will shy away from. Many people who buy Analogue products say this is why they prefer them. This may be more successful than an Analogue console in scale, because the cost is down. It appeals to me less, though, for not being a premium console. Far from it.

Correct. Where they rightly rag on the thing but don't mention their friends Rolfe and Silverman being involved with it.
@jwbartle6 күн бұрын
@@seruresto1386 Rolfe I'm not surprised. He's infamous doesn't really spend any time online, his only connection to this thing is knowing the organiser IRL. So I could see him being asked to film a video for "some little game awards show I'm doing" and not knowing the full context. Silverman, I don't know enough about him but I'd be surprised if he didn't know more about the situation.
@seruresto13865 күн бұрын
@@jwbartle Thing James has repeatedly been involved with scammy things or people over the years. At some point the "he's just a clueless, not online guy in a bubble" defense starts to be more than a little hollow. How come he never "accidentally' finds himself involved with something good natured and positive? Why is it always things like the Cheetahmen scam, or now grifter Craig, or doing KZbin vids with pieces of crap like JonTron? And it's honestly gutless and dishonest for Pat and Ian to just brush over. Big tough talk from these two about Craig or Tommy or Smash JT. Not a peep about Rolfe. It's BS.
@jwbartle5 күн бұрын
@@seruresto1386 This is where I may be out of the loop on some stuff and I hope you can clear some stuff up for me. I know of the controversy around JonTron due to the debate he had with Destiny, but I only know of a few videos JonTron was in with James (the ones on the Cinemassacre channel), and they all predate when Jon's ignorant political views were exposed. So I'm not seeing the issue there, unless stuff happened after that which I'm not aware of? But also I know JonTron made a video post-debate admitting he was ignorant and ill-informed, etc, so even if they collab'ed post-debate, I don't see that as a big deal. As for the Cheetahmen 2 thing, I hadn't heard about that so I had to do some research (which I'll admit could be incomplete). So what happened was.. someone did a Kickstarter to make Cheetahmen 2 repro carts, and they roped in a multiple youtubers to contribute to a video that was used for the Kickstarter, James included (I think Pat was in it as well?). From there, I get conflicting information. Some say the Kickstarter was successful, others say it wasn't, some say some didn't get their copies, some say that issue was sorted out.. Apparently there were complaints about it being a "scam" because of how expensive it was, but it was solely a collector's thing so being expensive doesn't surprise me. But James wasn't gaining anything from the Kickstarter as far as I can tell, it was an independent third party and he helped out because he thought it was neat. If I missed anything regarding the two things you brought up, please by all means, educate me. Because I'm struggling to see the issues here.
