I was there that night and it was MAGICAL!!! The entire place felt like you were traveling through space the way the lighting was and the way the stage was lit!! My Grandma and Sister who are no longer here were both in attendance and I will never forget that evening!! Celia Cruz and Floetry were supposed to be there but couldn't. Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey were there and sang with Patti Patti!!! So glad my sister got the chance to see Luther in person!! When the light dimmed all you heard was the band kicking in and Mama Patti serenaded the crowd. When the lights came on everybody was like where is she ..... she started sangin' up in the balcony and worked her way down!! Bless this beautiful soul !!!

I believe that this performance was part of her solo PBS special “Live! One Night Only”….and there was both a DVD and a CD. I think I have the CD somewhere. Anyway, Patti is the very best at emoting. She has a way of touching your soul and shaking you to your foundation. Her passion for song and music and the art of singing is second to none. But it’s perhaps her technique, power, dynamics, control, breath support and stamina-coupled with a truly electrifying delivery-that sets her apart from her contemporaries. Patti is a true original. I couldn’t love her any more than I do.

This performance was SO full of dynamics from the vulnerability to the vamps that just kept coming! One of my all time faves (this was right after Mariah - I saw you reacted to). It's an English version of l'Hymne à l'Amour of Édith Piaf. Céline Dion sang that song at American Music Awards in 2015 after the terrorist attack in Paris
