WAIT HANG ON THIS ISNT THE NORMAL PERFORMANCE THAT USUALLY CIRCULATES OMG THIS ONE IS SO GOOD

Yes, there are not many videos that this production would therefore appreciate if you can upload the fierce Dressing Room scene from this production, Laura Benanti as Louise confronting her mother is something worth checking out and Aurora should have a better shot.

This is was TRULY Patti’s best role in her illustrious career!

The person who's recorded this has the guts of steel to not get caught by Madame LuPone herself...

Patti manages to give the audience everything as Rose, her insanity, her passion and her vulnerability of what might have been. But also she is so prepared to add something new in each performance, there are so many recordings of her in this part and each one is different, both her and Laura have a great chemist as mother and daughter, this new revival will be interesting to see where it will go.

No better Rose than this one - ever. Patti was born for this role.

Very Thanks Aurora. Appreciate if you can upload the fierce Dressing Room scene from this production, Laura Benanti and Patti confronting each other was a scene that deserves to be on the internet to remind us why they both won the Tony that year.

I saw this and it's still one of my favorite moments in the theater. I am left to wonder: how does someone summon that kind of internal fire and unleash it every night? Forget the vocal skill. It's the depth of emotion I marvel at. In sports, we'd say "they left it all on the field." In this case, Ms. Lupone left it all on the stage. I am one who objects to the current habit of the ubiquitous standing ovation. If you do that for every performance, then what do you do for an extraordinary performance like this? Anyway, an amazing performance. Thanks for posting it.

wow. It’s hard to say who’s the best at any role because everyone has a totally different interpretation. but to me, patti will always be THE madame rose. thank you for sharing.

Though I'm psyched for the new Gypsy revival, NOBODY will beat Patti LuPone nor Ethel Merman whatsoever. Thanks for this
@LucasFerreira-rl9ndАй бұрын
Patti as Rose really is one of those performances that stays with you your whole life. You can watch other interpretations (I'm hopeful Audra will be amazing so she can take that tony) but Patti's Rose will aways be there on the back of your mind as the blueprint.

Saw her in between winning two of the Best Actress Awards leading up to winning her second Tony - she blew the roof off that theater! I think Brantley was most accurate when he said it’s one of those few times in a revival that a performer gives a performance so definitive it’s as if the role had been written for them. Loved seeing this today Spiderwoman - thank you so much for posting!

Patti evokes the talent, the way Merman did, with her electrifying, bombastic personality and singing, showing the suppressed talent that "could have been" a star ⭐ to perfection. In reality, probably Momma wasn't full of talent but most likely just gumption and Moxie. A lot of talk but no true talent. Her daughters had it though. But in the fable, in her own mind, Rose had talent, this is the fable fulfilled.

It was the perfect role for the most illustrious star of her generation at the absolute peak of her powers. Divine alignment.

LuPone was an exhilarating Rose. Tormented, disturbed, sexual, passionate, monstrous, loving. The most terrifying interpretation of Everything’s Coming Up Roses I’ve ever seen - gasps in the audience as the first act curtain plummeted. (In fact that 2007/2008 season gave us two well known seemingly upbeat Broadway songs - Happy Talk in the Lincoln Center South Pacific revival and the aforementioned Coming Up Roses in Gypsy, both featuring desperate mothers, ready to prostitute their daughters by any means necessary, and ultimately proving the beautiful depth of writing in these two musicals).
