I've lost count how many times I've been to the Bowl over the past 30 or so years, but this performance of Patti's last night ranks in my top 2-3. Based on the reaction of the crowd, I'm guessing a lot of people felt the same way.

Thanks for posting. Patti once again reinvented this song for the evening with brilliant results, more comedic and light than the acerbic way the character performs the song in Company, yet still stops the show.

Patti is a better singer and performer now more so than her illustrious career up to this point. Astounding for as long as she's been around. She may give Shirley Bassey a run for the money. Loved seeing her live here. A night to remember.

The bellowing queens ruined it for me. You could hear a pin drop when Patti performed it in Company on Broadway. After the song ended the audience went nuts.

But isn’t that just part of the difference between a Broadway performance and a concert at the Hollywood Bowl? I saw both this performance and saw her sing it on Broadway in 2021. The energy at both was dynamic, but something hit differently about seeing it with 16k people outside.

When I saw Patti in Gypsy on Broadway, the screaming queens in the audience ruined Rose's Turn. I'm gay, but know how to behave at a live performance. Applause and hooting when the song ENDS.
