Well it's about time that I publish a fan video already! Finally had some time today and decided to record a couple starting with this old Patton high velocity fan from the 90's. This is a childhood fan for me and although it has lived a tough life, it's still a great runner and performs better than anything you can buy today!

Those older Patton high velocity fans without a doubt are strong and well built, but the motors on them can also get really hot, hot to the point I primarily run mine during the day so I don't potentially have a motor mishap overnight.

@colin_5839 Ай бұрын
They get warm but not concerningly warm. Plus, they are thermally protected so I wouldn't worry about running it overnight at all. Thanks for Watching!

You are correct that the hub should not be painted. This would have been one of the last really good ones they made, I believe it was in the early 2000s when they changed motor manufacturers. This has a very high performance motor, the startup sound is very neat, sounds like it's coming from something a lot larger. These were quite solid fans, if they were cleaned and lubricated, they lasted. Unfortunately if they weren't, they often didn't. The vast majority of these have failed due to lack of lubrication. This one must have been oiled at some point. It appears to have the same motor as the U2-1887 I have, probably why the pitch is lesser to accommodate the additional size of the blade. I saw a lot of things in this video that should be recorded!

Yea well younger me decided to paint it lol. Defiantly one of the last of the good ones. Yea I think that these are rapidly disappearing for that reason unfortunately. Yea there are a couple of gems I keep at my Grandpa's house and I recorded a couple of other videos after this one so stay tuned! I'll get to all of them eventually! :) Thanks for Watching!

It’s too bad that most of these fans are long gone as a result of lack of maintenance. It just shows you how well people take care of things. LOL 🤣
@colin_5839
@colin_5839 3 жыл бұрын
Yup. I don't think many people do it intentionally either. I think a larger problem is ignorance as I don't even think people realize that older fans need to be serviced in the first place. That combined with today's culture of throw it away and buy a new one when something breaks and you end up with certain lines of fans becoming rather rare and hard to find.

Patton U2 models from the 1990s are know for having the humming sound of the start up witch I like and they had that on the Holmes buy out group when the first generations came out.

And now that you’re making fan videos again-it’ll be great to see another video of that 16” Duracraft fan from last year as well as other fans we that haven’t been seen yet. I’m sure you got a number of things you’ve been meaning to film and upload.

I recorded that video right after I recorded this one so it's coming! I promise! Just need to get around to editing and posting. i think I'll try and post it around the 22nd of this month as I'm going to do another engine video for this coming weekend. Still plenty of fans in the collection that need videos so stay tuned! :)
