The plastic covers that pop up on the spot lamps protect the lamps from damage from stone chips when they are switched off.

I saved up to buy my dream BMW 5 series in 1998. It was in mint condition. I drove it home on the highway, so slow afraid to damage it in any way. I stopped to show my uncle, a police officer, at the police station. I parked out front on the street. I went in to get him, as we’re walking out, a White MR-2 flew at twice the speed limit around corner and slid into my car. My uncle and I stood there with dropped jaws. From the angle, I saw his damage and not mine. Because the MR2 is a rear mount engine, and is incredibly small, his entire front end wrapped around my driver side rear quarter. They later towed his away to see what was done after pulling them apart was shocking! My car had broken the plastic bumper cover, rear taillight, and gouged a 6 inch dent on the quarter panel behind the broken tail light! My car drove away from the accident with only plastic housings or lights being broken. His car was half its already small size as the front collapsed in on itself. AND OF COURSE HE DIDN’T HAVE THE STATE MANDATED INSURANCE! HE FOUGHT IT TOO! & HE HIT AN UNOCCUPIED PARKED CAR IN FRONT OF A POLICE STATION AND A POLICE OFFICER!

I owned a 1986 Toyota MR2. That car was a lot of fun! But I had a baby so I had to get a car with a backseat. I still miss it.

That particular MR 2 was very much like new. It was far ahead of its time when launched : £7400 was far too cheap it could have made £ 8999 . One was sold at a dealer near Guilford for over £10k.that was 4 years ago and used prices have now risen .

Nobody makes more efficient and reliable vehicles than the Japanese and I will have a car I get into and drive everyday over a European glitz and glamor car that needs a daily pop of the hood before you can even think of turning the key.
