Coudln't agree more. I love Eco and Borges so I was looking forward to this one but halfway through Ghosts I was almost ready to give up... which is quite something, considering it's so short. Finally I got through but mostly out of stubborness. Not for me.

thanks for the comment! Although 'Ghost' was sort of a disappointment, I'm not yet done with Paul Auster. 4321 is still on my TBR list... Best regards, David

It was my first Paul Auster book, i saw the beatiful book cover in the shelf and decided to buy it, believing it was a Sherlock Holmes kind of story 😂. In the end, i really appreciate the 3 novels. Ghosts was the most tiring for me, the paragraphs are very long and address a mental issue of the character, confusing so to speak. Thanks for your review. Hugs from Brazil! 🇧🇷

Got hung up wishing Blue was hired by Yellow to find Green because blue and yellow make green. Maybe there is a Red herring in the background to create a purple or orange murder scene. Also thinking about matching the interest of a cover to the contents of an expensive book; if it should be part of a criticism that the inside pales in comparison with the outer art.

Interesting idea, to include color mixing. There actually is a Green and a Grey in the story, it is a small side-track. It is mentioned as one of the previous cases of Blue as a private eye: he once had to look for a missing husband (Grey), and he finally finds him under the name of Green, a person who is happily living an entirely new life without any memory of his previous existence as Grey. Blue reunites Green and his wife, and they continue to live happily as a couple. However, Green always insists to be Green, not Grey. This is anticipating the plot of the 3rd novel, also giving an alternative interpretation: maybe the narrator in the 3rd novel is actually the real husband (Fanshaw), without remembering it.... Green and Grey are also mentioned in the first novel. Peter Stillman jr seems to be a bit deranged, he once tells Daniel Quinn that his real name is Peter Rabbit, in winter he is Mr. White, in Summer Mr. Green...

@@polyglotreading I thought since the stories were a little drab that I would be free to play with the colors. Thank you for not making fun of me being childish.
