I also love that he’s into God. Unfortunately the majority of comedians are not, and a fair number are atheist or agnostic. Here is part of the reason why…
@DailySource2 ай бұрын
Comedians often say they had rough childhoods or had one or more 38:22 quite bad things happened to them when young. i’ve heard many comedians say they think this is true of the bulk of comedians, and that it is the main motivation for them to be in comedy - that it gives them temporary relief from their heavy pain. A lot of people with similar childhoods also use alcohol, drugs and casual sex as temporary escapes. All The major religions of the world and almost all of the small to medium size ones teach that abusing drugs and alcohol, and engaging in casual sex are wrong because those things hurt the individuals doing them and also hurt other people in various ways ranging from drunk driving deaths to those people not holding their weight in relationships and at their jobs because their vices are a drain on their time and energy. But people who have those vices are usually in total denial and want to attack any person or institution that criticizes them. That partly results in them being anti-religion and not being open to God. A related factor is that for most people to have experiences of God, their minds and hearts need to not be too chaotic or clouded. experiencing the divine is a subtle thing. Alcohol and drugs either reduce or block that subtlety of mind depending on how much alcohol or drugs are consumed. Even small amounts reduce it and small to medium amounts eliminate it completely. Sizable amounts of internal pain and trauma also reduce the ability to experience God because the persons mind is too occupied with the pain and with pushing the pain away. The final way in which the things above affect comedians belief in God is that many of them tend to adopt the simplistic thought that bad things have happened to people like themselves, it means that God doesn’t exist because if a truly powerful God existed, these bad things wouldn’t occur. Great people in both Christianity and Judaism have fully addressed this thought including CS Lewis in his book named: the problem of pain. Rabbi Harold Kushner also addressed it in a book named: why bad things happen to good people. One reason is that God gives human beings free will and doesn’t control us like robots or puppets, which means that 8 billion people can choose to do bad things to other people. People can listen to the problem of pain for free on KZbin.
