I ADORE Stephen, and I watch a lot of his interviews, unfortunately he seems to have checked out in many of them lately. I'm wondering if it's because he's not getting top tier guests or if he's just feeling so smothered and un-fullfilled by CBS and their limitations. (Either way this is NOT his strong suit and he should consider re-booting the Colbert report.)
@willpugh88658 жыл бұрын

If you rate the VP debate on substance, Kaine wins. He mostly told the truth (with occasional exaggerations) while Pence repeatedly lied (particularly whenever he denied that he and/or Trump said things even though they are on record saying those things). But Pence managed to look cool, calm and collected when he was lying, while Kaine looked like a hyperactive child while telling the truth.

More than any other late night host, Colbert seems absolutely petrified to offend anyone in show business. Not only does he not laugh at guests' obviously hilarious jokes, he takes the time to rebut the joke- deconstructing it so the interview loses all of its momentum. The entire reason I liked Colbert was because of his personality on the Daily Show and the Colbert Report (yes it was a character). He is a completely different person here, and it seems to have gotten worse recently. Watch his Bill Burr interviews, then compare them to Bill Burr's appearances on Conan if you want a good example. Especially considering he comes from improv, he basically never follows the "yes, and?" rule. He shuts down so many conversations and ideas with semantics that each clip I see of him is a chore to watch.
