How??? the best team he played for was spurs lol
@grahameheatlie26403 жыл бұрын
5mins he said he wasn't sleeping well and everyone laughed as if he meant he'd been partying, but we now know he suffered anxiety and insomnia, so he meant it genuinely, not as a joke. As well as a world class footballer he's a world class human being with a heart of gold. he's never played for the team or country I support and I am still a massive fan of him as a player and a person.

Heart of gold. Except for all the beatings he gave his wife. The drugs. The absent father. Heart of gold man!!!

Regarding his sleep, I think he said he apparently played one of his best matches after knocking a ton of sleeping pills back, got up the next day for the match, played brilliantly, went home, fell asleep, and barely remembered any of it. 😂
@SagaciousFrank4 ай бұрын
@@VillaBoys123, he's not an evil man though. A wife beater and being an absent father (the latter of which is now sadly very common and accepted) are obviously not commendable nor to be condoned, but alas the booze and the drugs will bring the worst out of even a gentle, genial chap like Gazza when drunk and drugged up. He made his own choices, but he's clearly quite a troubled man.

Very prophetic what Terry was saying. Poor Gazza if only he could have seen what was coming. That tackle one year later and his injury in the cup final. Being dropped by Glenn Hoddle for the 1998 WC finals in France, then down hill......

I was so annoyed that twat Hoddle left him out, just to make a point. He even took the piss out of Becks during training. Stupid egomaniac Hoddle.

Great to see Gazza like this. He was my idol growing up (i'm 35 now). Such a shame how he spiralled to the lows he did. I often think to myself if I could turn back time and change one thing in football, it'd be that tackle on Gary Charles. He'd have been the best player of that decade/generation easily, maybe ever.

His troubles with drugs.alcohol & mental health all stem from some deep rooted trauma. I know his friend died when he was young etc.I think fame,money & football accentuated everything. The way the msm hounded & slandered him for 20/30 years just to make money is truly abhorrent. Unfortunately there are a lot of vultures out there and they saw Gazza as east prey because he was so naive & vulnerable. I remember watching Gazza playing on the tv when I was a kid.He was a special talent,so exciting with such natural ability.

A terrific player with talent but never fulfilled his full potential. He lost a bit of his magic after breaking his leg in the 1991 Cup Final. He was loved by the Lazio fans, he played some good football at Glasgow Rangers but was lucky not to get hurt or worse when he was taunting the Celtic fans with the flute gestures. His goal against Scotland at Euro 96 was superb and is still talked about today. Sadly he had his problems and this began to become heavy baggage for him. Glen Hoddle was *RIGHT* not to take him to France 98 IMHO. He wasnt the player in 98 that he was in 90 and his silly bugger antics were not what you want during a world cup.. Completely stupid when he jumped into the drivers seat of the Middlesborough team bus (after the driver went to the loo and left the engine running) and drove it round the yard, scraping it badly down a gate and causing 12 or 13K of damage.

"you are in a position most young men would say is a dream" Man looking back on this interview seeing the state of what he turned into must rip his heart out. Turned into an alcoholic wife beater and is now asking builders for cigarettes... That is sad. Even if he didn't become an alcoholic etc he wouldn't still be living the same life as when he was young but he could be happy in retirement still with his wife and have all his important things like his house etc.
