My Dad was on the line at a Tottenham game once,he was infront of the dugout, and Gascoigne was giving him abuse. After the game there was a knock on the officials door.Paul had been sent in by Terry Venables to apologise to my Dad,Just before he left he spotted a few bottles of beer,he asked if he could have one,my Dad said yes,as long as he signed a couple of programmes, which he did !

I was just surprised they did not light up Elderslie aswell the village on the other side of Johnstone where I was brought up. That's the only surprise to me with that story. Ally lived in Kilbarchan dt that time & Gazza in Bridge of Wier if I remember right. So you have coming from the South West Glasgow Paisley Elderslie Johnstone Kilbarchan & then Bridge of Wier So, growing up, I lived within walking distance of both of them. I was in high school, back in they day's.

Many years ago i lived near Huntly and Rangers were on a pre season trip to play Huntly F.C. a top notch Highland league team,I can't remember the result or clearly where i drank too much ,but trying to get home we heard the clanking of milk bottles ,turned round and the milkman and float stopped and we joshed about the game ,which to be honest i only had a hazy recollection of and he announced he had Ally on board .We could not see him ,but he pointed to the back of the float and on inspection there was Ally laid out among the milk crates ,we said our goodbyes and of rattled the milkman up to the Huntly Castle hotel where the team were staying.

None of these Gascoigne stories are actually funny though when you see the tragic figure he's become. He was an absolute train wreck who clearly suffered serious childhood trauma and all these so called "friends" and teammates could do was ply him with drink & drugs and then dine out on stories about "Gazza's" antics for the next 25-30 years whilst the man himself continues to live a pitiful life. Nothing about this is funny.
