People seem to have a hard time understanding that sometimes an alcoholic is just an alcoholic. You can see they're trying to probe Paul for reasons as to why he drank, like the success and stuff, but he's just an alcoholic, pure and true. It doesn't discriminate against gender, profession or social class, some are just born with it

such a shame he has slipped up, he was looking good here, thing is once you have been a proper alcoholic it only takes one drink to send you back. Sounds like his relapse came at Christmas of all times where it must be the hardest with everyone drinking. Was really quite sad to see the video of him from the charity event, Hope he gets well again

***** Yeah and I read Tom Sizemores book, the guy in Heat film,. and he said that obsessive thing is symptom often picked up in addicts,he says even to hit ball against wall obsessively, he said it better in his book. The culture back then was to drink, Arsenal team, Tony Adams who wrote Addicted. , Paul Merson, Kenny Samson, actually not sure if Samson was in same team at time as Merson, You could put together good team of addicts, Maradona, Best, Paul Mcgrath, I also read Beckams book and he used he's got OCD, he used to take free kicks for hours.

This guy is very sick - just seen he's been arrested again for being pissed in charge of a car. There doesn't seem to be much that can be done for someone with this level of alcoholism - must be hideous for his family. This guy was a good footballer - there is a run he made for Lazio from the halfway line that amazed me - plus he was a great England player. Very sad.

***** it's football. It means fuck all to me. Grown men kicking a ball around on a field while people pay £50-100 to watch them and make them rich and powerful. It's too basic for my brain. "Wing it lad" "pass it up da middle" "keeperrrrr" then the dumb crowd shouting racist abuse at the players and things like "fuckin' snap iz legs lad" "'ave 'I'm" "Ye black lazy bastard" "fuck off ref ye cunt" To me that's just nothing. Thanks and good evening.

+James Bond With respect, the plight of a working class celebrity is the plight of the working class. Scientists and 'chess players' have an inherent esteem and respect and, frankly, anyone with such an occupation hasn't come from the same background as Gazza. You're trying to attach this person to cultural celebrity trash, but I think he also appeals to people who literally never see themselves represented in media. I don't think the media are helping him, but his appeal isn't just limited to a 'dumbing down' of UK culture, which I think you are conflating with class snobbery.
@Jairzinho12113 жыл бұрын
@LittleCherylSoilder stop feeling sorry for him and judging and him and just accept him. We're all gonna die, and from all sorts of reasons, why do we condemn these people who like to get wasted? I prefer a chat with Gazza than one with Tony Blair or George Bush or any investment banker! Gazza has earnt enough not to be a burden, leave him alone! Why are we all trapped by what ppl think? Look at who controls what we think and why, we're alll just animals at the end of the day.
