Pauls one of those players that keeps growing. U can hear how hes been transcribing vocalists more and learning tons more vocal melodies on the guitar. Super nice cat too 💯

His chordal melody stuff in this is so freaking great, his timing is absurd! Was never a huge fan (timing in life) but he’s really grown into an incredible player (much more musical) but still has the crazy chops!

He is one of my favorite guitarists simply because it is clear that he mastered the basics before moving on to more sophisticated playing. As a result, other guitarists don't play as clean or their phrasing is amateur. NOT Paul Gilbert.

I love a lot of guitar players/musicians through my life but I really have to say that Paul Gilbert is in my top 5 ever! And I honestly don’t think anyone can play another guitarist song say VH as absolutely perfect like I’ve heard Paul Gilbert do. So good if blindfolded you wouldn’t be able to tell who was playing it. That is not easy and he makes it sound and look easy.
