I've been obsessed with hammers and pulls lately, and I just found the perfect person to make myself even more obsessed! I should have known you'd be in the top three videos, just like with every other technique! I love that Mr Gilbert is not only an absurdly good player, but such a patient sounding teacher, and so articulate! Articulate, yet possesses the ability to easily distill things down to a level where even a novice would understand. He really is kind of a living treasure for the guitar community, just saying...

Fantastic. Got any tips on how to do a bend that leads directly to a pull-off? I'm finding it hard to control how hard the note sounds - the bend makes it all too easy to slam the note, and it's also surprisingly easy to mute it by mistake.
@animalchin96013 жыл бұрын
Hey man! I’ve been self taught for about six years I can help! Can you clarify what you mean by like a bend leading to a pull off?
@animalchin96013 жыл бұрын
Do you mean bending a note up then down and pulling off?
@champnessjack11543 жыл бұрын
@@animalchin9601 Thanks! Yes, I mean bending the note up, then pulling off to sound the open string. I finally figured out a way that works for me - it is very finger dependent! It seems to work best using the index finger. If you have any more tips they'd be much appreciated.
@animalchin96013 жыл бұрын
@@champnessjack1154 I would say work on finger string in your ring finger to get more control from it as well also trying to get a cleaner tone by watching where your fingers land not letting other strings sound out with mutiing

@chrisking66953 жыл бұрын
Funny. I can do the pull offs with all fingers but my index finger. How so? Because when I use my middle finger it's so close to my index that when I try and flick the string with my middle finger my index finger gets pushed down (my middle finger pushing my index finger) resulting in the note going sharp (due to it being bent slightly).
@chrisking66952 жыл бұрын
It's been 6 months since I made this comment. I practiced relentlessly and got rid of the issue. It was clearly technique issue. It was the way I positioned my wrist, thumb and fingers that didn't give me enough leverage. I'm still working on improving it. What 6 months of practice can do, right? Haha
