@@akidk1499 Japanese people have better taste in music. They love guitar music there, even today. Western kids don't listen to guitar music anymore. Just some autotune crap, or another untalented person who speaks over music. In western top 20 chart, there is rarely even songs with guitar in it The kind of music western kids call "hit songs" these days are depressingly bad, predictable chord progression and untalented people who somehow have become "stars". Singing bad melodies badly with autotune, or speaking over music. Bands that are big in Japan have more interesting chord progression, they use more advanced chords like 6- 9- or 13-chords, more chords per song, and guitar solos are in like every song. Modern western music isn't like that anymore, it's down to 4 basic chords with no guitar

Paul Gilbert's crew once told him that he couldn't play a show because of technical difficulties. Despite no electricity for 11 miles, he was undeterred and played unplugged for several hours. Slash then appeared in the sky, mounting a flaming lion and flanked by Dio and Vivian Campbell riding a dragon. Zul R Oh really? Looks quite advanced to me. I never been a good guitarist, I played bass however but not so bad after few years of practicing, however I find this song quite difficult to play specially for a beginner. How long it takes to learn specially if doesn't have some natural skills?

a lot of technical players out there are brilliant but this guy can do all that but with his own distinctive style, truly a legend to behold!! \m/
@Despond5 жыл бұрын
That's the point in the end. There are thousands of guitarists who could play this, but you need to actual MAKE a song like this to stand out. Also you know when PG is playing because he has his own unique style. At the end of the day, you can be a technical player but if you don't create something with it then you're just an audio program.

What’s most impressive about this is how he manages to move his pick out of his two fingers while tapping then back again in split seconds. Man is omnipotent.

I think an intermediate/high level player could fairly easily learn the fretting hand part, and slowly bring it up to speed, what seems impossible is his precise and consistent picking.

this was the first song that really inspired me to build my technical skill on the guitar. does anyone know if the chord progression at the end was an intentional homage to pink Floyd's comfortably numb?

It's intriguing to me how all the shredder virtuosos are drug free including Paul. These guys: from Yngwie Malmsteen to Joe Satriani are true role models for guitarists and even everyday people.

Once saw Paul show up at the Whiskey in LA back in 2002 to play with the Atomic Punks. Didn’t know it at the time, but the guitarist of the punks, Russ Parrish and he were good friends, and taught together at the GUITAR INSTITUTE. Long story short, RUSS handed his guitar off to Paul and he played Hot For Teacher with the band. Flawlessly. What an amazing talent and seemed like a good guy as well.

I know it's a joke but if you did want to reach further I have fairly small hands but I can reach from the 12th to 19th fret what I did is basically play notes that were each a step apart so like doing 14 to 16 to 18 to 19 to include each finger and I would do a warmup where I would just go down each string picking that pattern and once it was kinda easy move it down a fret, currently I can do 5 to 7 to 9 to 10 and if I take out my pinky I can do 1 to 3 to 5. you can force it a bit with muscle memory.
