When you’ve been playing for a long time, you realize that you won’t stop learning. There’s no better nor best. They are all different. Vai, Malmsteen, Gilbert, Lynch, Nuno, Brata, Van Halen, MacAlpine, Batio, Pettrucci, Becker, Friedman... to name a few... all excels at what they do, and none of them can beat the other one at their own game.

Exactly. Paul wins. : ) No really, Paul is the better guitar player--Nuno would agree. Paul is technically more adroit on the instrument; Nuno has better feel and is more percussive in his playing. Artistically, it is subjective. Ability-wise, Paul is better. Nuno is in good company-- not many humans on this earth don't fall in that category!

I love Nuno's rhythm playing, shame we don't hear any of that, his 'groove' is just incredible! I'd give PG the edge in lead playing but as an all-round in your face monster guitar player Nuno has no equal in my eyes.

@@youlino If it was all about speed then yes, delay can be used to, let's say, accentuate abilities :-); it's not all about speed of course, my comment was highlighting Nuno's sheer guitar 'force', when he plays I find myself tapping my feet or nodding my head etc, the groove cannot be ignored! Or to put it another way; I can play quite a few Extreme songs, I know where my fingers go and I can get them there fast enough but (and here's the thing) can I play it like Nuno? Answer - no, not really lol! It's all in the fingers and the feel :-)

Nuno: killer chops, very funky, great rhythm player and some great tunes with Extreme. Paul: very fast, technically brilliant, but I am not a fan of most of his music and Nuno is the better vocalist. Paul has some very cheesy and weird tunes. Some great ones too though. They are vastly different so it is just a matter of preference and taste. I prefer Nuno.

love both players and the point I love for each of them is like PG : more like technical player but he has various and open minded musical styles from pop to technical shredding etc that the reason i like him Nuno : solid characters in his play, always shows groovy and melodical approaches. really creative musician other than technical instrument player. all of his works are brilliant and unique.

Nuno has better riffs and better tapping, Paul plays a wider variety of styles and has faster and cleaner picking They're both 11/10 as guitar players so like, when they're both that good you just have to say "I prefer Paul but Nuno is also brilliant" or the reverse.

As much as I like Paul Gilbert who is amazing. gotta go with my boy NUNO!!!!!! Nuno is one of the most underrated (imo) & phenomenal guitar players. Jason Becker was the same & he played a killer guitar! I saw the vid for "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Prince, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison & Steve Winwood. Never would I have guessed that Prince was such a kickass guitar player! Learn something new every day...go figure...

They are both great guitar players, and comparing guitarists is often futile, but Nuno is not close to being as technically proficient as Paul, and if you like speed and shred, Paul is on another level compared to almost everybody. The What a Fool Believes cover he does is insanity. 🤘🏽

Love Nuno but Paul Gilbert is the best guitarist around in my opinion. Anything Paul has ever done is incredible. Doesn't matter if it's Racer X, Mr. Big or his solo stuff he is on point. Last time I saw him play live (which was 2019) I went up to the owner of the club after the show and he looked at me and said "well somebody has got to be the best" and the owner is a musician so he knows a thing or two about music. I told him that to me he definitely is the best.

Nuno is one of my favorite guitarist! I'd rather hear his music then Paul's. That being said, Paul Gilbert can play anything nuno note for note but I don't think nuno can play anything Paul Gilbert note for note. Kinda like Steve via vs Edward van halen. Steve smokes eddie but id rather listen to Eddie all day long. At this point, when you're as good as any of these guys..... Who gives a shit. They truly can play what they want when they want.
