Paul Harris was every magician's mentor back in the day. Including David Copperfield.

These people in here complaining about this performance being "boring" know nothing about the art of magic. They keep comparing it to people like the overrated Criss Angel. This is no such thing as "magic" they are only tricks. So stop giving these bs people the God Complex.

Paul Harris was never David Blaine's mentor.
@TonyLey8 жыл бұрын
He kinda was/is along with Bill Kalush.
@andybennett91278 жыл бұрын
liberalguy513 no he was not. Their styles are totally different in that Harris is a "close up kinda guy" and would have made dry and droll jokes about Blaine were he performing in the same era
@BlackMasterJoe897 жыл бұрын
He was Blaine's creative director. I bought David's book "Mysterious Stranger" and he had a picture of him saying that he was his mentor too.

Andy Bennett - Sorry for such a late reply. Blaine and Harris are actually very close. They created Blaine's persona in Northern California walking into bars and other places doing a lot of Paul's material and sort of tooling around with the idea of what a modern magician might be like (his whole "mysterious stranger" persona). Their styles are TOTALLY different but that doesn't mean that Paul's creativity and outside-the-box thinking when it came to technique and effect weren't a huge influence on Blaine. During my time living in San Jose and Santa Cruz, I met a lot of Paul's friends (never met Paul but always have wanted to so that I can thank him for all the amazing contributions he gave the art). Check out Paul and Blaine's effect Strange Travelers to see one of their collaborations.
