When I was a senior in high school I got a part-time job delivering airline tickets for a travel agency (older folks will remember those). Anyway, the van I drove had an A.M. radio so I used to listen to the oldies station as I drove around except at 4 P.M. when I would turn the dial and listen to Paul Harvey. He was a part of my daily work routine. How cool that was, and how very long ago. Oh well, time wats for no one. Good day.

I always admired Paul Harvey from the early 70's until his passing! But, I'm not a fan of Lincoln *BECAUSE* of Lincoln's own words! Remember Lincoln's words: Abraham Lincoln, US Congressman, 12 January 1848 on the floor of the US House of Representatives: "Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and for a new one that suits them better. *THIS IS A MOST VALUABLE, - A MOST SACRED RIGHT - a RIGHT,* which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world. @@brucewelty7684 *CORRECT TIMELINE:* 1. South Carolina threatened secession after the 1828 Tariff of Abomination on into the Nullification Crisis of 1832-1833. 2. With the House passage of the anti-South, pro-North Morrill Tax in May 1860, the Republican Party Platform, a week later, pledged their support for the Tax. 3. Republicans won the November elections of 1860. 4. South Carolina kept their 30 year promise and seceded on 20 December 1860. 5. Six days later, 26 December 1860, the US Army violated the rights and land of the free, independent and sovereign State of SouthCarolina moving from Ft Moultrie to Ft Sumter. 5. South Carolina pled for 3-1/2 months with the US to remove their armed, invading force. Both Buchanan and Lincoln refused even though the invasion *VIOLATED* the 4th Plank of the Republican Platform which Lincoln quoted (6th paragraph) of his 1st Inaugural. 6. Finally, South Carolina drove the invaders off their land which Lincoln claimed was there *FOR COLLECTION OF THE REVENUE!* *_NOTE:_* The other Southern States began throwing out the Union traitors when they knew how South Carolina was invaded and treated by the federal government.

When Lincoln came home after serving in the Black Hawk War, he had an idea of becoming a blacksmith, but somehow his plans changed and the 23-year-old Lincoln entered a partnership with 21-year-old William Berry and they bought a general store on credit in New Salem, Illinois, where Lincoln lived from 1831 to 1837.Since it was illegal to sell single drinks to consume at the store without a license, in 1833, the venture became a tavern as well. Berry managed to take out a license for Lincoln and himself. The license cost them $7. Now when they became licensed bartenders they were permitted to sell spirits, including liquor at 12 cents a pint.
