59:00 Wonderful dialogue between two people, one representing lion and the other representing lion-identified-sheep (the "stage" for this dialogue - to be able to take place - is called "the hypothetical"; or in the dualistic alternative to intellectual banter, "the buts" of our "personal" felt/thought "requirements") 1:07:35 Very helpful ideas of time/practice NOT needed and it's corrollary that you (that accepts that what-it's-not) can learn from "others". Trying to apply very logical (dreaming) premises, like immunity only comes through exposure (practice), doesn't work. The beautiful logic of "learning" from others-that-aren't others comes from the same premise: that the separate self experience is not "you"! What more logical extension of that can there be, but that it graciously witnesses what doesn't work seemingly in others, and then a furhter extension is it does not reinforce that pattern in "other" either and that other "learns" too, i.e. drops that pattern (because it is *one* dreaming dreaming itself out of the dreaming) 1:28:20 "What=Comes-Before gives the meaning of hope. Hope is valuable, then it may not be. There is no thing that 'hope is hopeless'. There's nothing that is what it is, it is what it's meant to be by the mind." 1:35:11 I love "humility - it's just an observation that you have nothing to do with something - that keeps you "right-sized"

Best one yet imo. Wonderful example of ’selfing’ being skillfully highlighted without any unpleasantness. Paul deals so well with full on egoic attack, deflecting it with skill and humility. I loved the way he viewed hope as so positive, disarming the nihilistic psuedo advaita response of one of the audience. I have so much gratitude for this teaching and recommend it to anyone just starting to explore none-duality.

I think this is one of Paul's most lively and impressive talks. Thanks Paul. I used to listen to you way back in the days and then I didn't understand a fucking word you said... but now I do and it's all bloody obvious. It hits you, it does, and then you "get it" and "traveling lighter" begins.

The truth in the message in this video popped the illusion of self and paused the selfing. Forever indebted to Paul. The lion heard the message and realised he wasn't a sheep. Never been a sheep. Freedom. Ultimate relief 💜

I kinda been glancing at Derrida and all that the last few days, and it sure feels good to come back here to Paul. Literally I had to dial up this video to kind of rinse out my brain. The way Paul expresses the non-solidity of apparent things, the way we give all the meaning to everything, that if your house is on fire then you need a bucket of water, the action figure and its seat assignment, and especially, echoing Ramesh, that traveling lighter is actually sublime and worthwhile... Philosophy seems to mainly just make itself dizzy spinning in circles, more or less trying to use activity to create stillness. Thank you so much Paul.

yes about the philosophy. seemed to add to the suffering by inducing anxiety, had i really understood? had i wasted time reading a philosophy that was now passe? would i ever get to the bottom of all this philosophizing to the nub of what its all about?

33:17 "every thought that can be caught is used to apply the thinker," thus, while observing your thoughts, refrain from judgment, i.e., avoid getting caught up by the thoughts; thoughts will quickly dissipate and moments of silence will reveal themselves. With practice, this gets easier and these moments get progressively longer. Rest in this silence and develop insight.

So self is trying to use every practice to imply a self. But if theres repetition of I'm not that then sooner or later I will miss the message so that it can completely land without me making something out of it to refer to me.

its quite a leap to believe that I eternally exist behind the camera. seems like thats the crux of the message. but how can I know that?

53:45 "how do you see what youre not?" "you see the activity that implies it all. instead of seeing after the product is made, you see the production of the product.you see the selfing as a verb instead of looking from the noun that the selfing was used to imply. instead of looking at it as self trying to figure out how to get out of self, you see the selfing from what you are. you see the manufacturing of consent, this idea of being a self." hmmm.. little bit confusing ... is this like Ramesh balsekar's approach of seeing you are not the doer by observing and being convinced that there is no free will?

Jesse all you have to do to know you’re eternal is remember you’re the one who’s aware of the appearance of thoughts. You’re not the incomplete or once incomplete self that you may imagine when *thinking about yourself in the world* happens. That which is present now in countless forms could not possibly have come into existence in that way unless it were aware in and as this moment. If there were not awareness of presence, then there’d be no world. But even if there were no world, one could not say that there was no awareness when there was nothing because the presence of nothing is just as much presence as the presence of something or everything is. That presence or consciousness is the only you there is.
