Paul John - Mithuna First Taste! (crazy rare Indian Whisky)

Hey everyone!
I only had a small sample of this whisky so I thought I'd do it "First taste" style. The important thing to know is that this is an Indian Whisky and although I've long been an advocate of Indian whiskies, this is a very expensive one... definitely not going to be for everyone but if you're a fan and have the money to spend, it's going to be worth every dime.

I'm a bit late to this video, but I just bought a bottle, so I feel the need to leave a comment. The tasting notes in this video are very close to my experience. This is a well crafted, complex whisky that is unlike any other I've had. When I pay a lot of money for a bottle of booze, I want something that is top quality and that also provides a unique experience. This whisky meets my standard. As others in this series appear, I will be tempted to buy them. I would rather spend money on something unusual like this than on the latest overhyped bourbon.

Nice review! Family had some for me to try but I had it after some Hibiki 18 and 21 and was shocked at how diff it was I really enjoyed the mithuna and kept looking for a traditional scotch flavor but I kept tasting bourbon and now it makes sense! I really enjoyed it but that was the last of it! Curious, is it worth the $300 or is the traditional Amrut close In taste? I know you reviews both. I really enjoyed mithuna because I didn’t taste peat and it was almost like a bright rich burboun (which I usually drink)

I've really enjoyed the Paul John I've had, and that's just the basic stuff for the most part. Not one I see much in my area, but one I need to track down more of for sure. Same with Amrut. India's game is strong.

Try Paul John PX cask. It’s the best Indian whiskey I’ve tried right next to Amrut Portonova. Pairs very well with spicy food.

You need to head into NJ, Total Wine carries Indian whiskies.

@@EuropaWill I plan on it next week during thanksgiving. My in laws live in jersey and this year we have to go there, unfortunately. So many Indians down there I’d find it crazy if they didn’t sell Indian whiskeys.

@@brmicmatthews8398 I had to make a trip of it myself in the summer because I was on a similar mission to pick up a bottle of Amrut. I left there spending over twice what I had planned because their scotch selection is great and there were a number of bottles I can't find locally any longer.

The cost in India is similar to Royal Salute and Blue Label. So according to you does Mithuna comes close to those two ?

I'm sure it will, but whisky is meant to be drank not take up space on your shelf :)
