HarmanSin in my opinion, that game 6 finals goal, most incredible and emotional goal in hockey history. Even if you don’t agree completely, can’t argue it isn’t in top 5. What a moment, what a player. And Gary Thorne lol. What a damn call on that goal.

@@Wainfleetkx450f He scored 108 points and 50 goals in the dead puck ear of the 1990s, when players would get hit everywhere on the ice and sticks to the face and head were the norm. Imagine Kariya in today's no hitting, super soft NHL style of play. He would score 150 points easily and approach 70 goals.

A smaller man in a big man's era, but he had a heart that was as big as any. Sniper on the slapshot, one of the best wrist shots I've ever seen, and he could absolutely fly. Great in that era, but would be absolutely insane in today's era.

@Michael-fw5ef 4 жыл бұрын
@@roycecone4871 If he was hit once, he would slow down. In today's NHL, there is no hitting, no fighting, no stick work compared to the 1990s. McDavid only seems good in today's NHL because the talent level is so low. And remember, for all McDavid's flashy play, he was only a +3 last year and his team missed the playoffs. Gretzky finsihed with a plus +500 in his career and won 4 stanley cups, with his team making the playoffs almost every year he was in the NHL. Kariya took his team to the Stanley Cup finals. Kariya scored 50 goals in his 2nd year in the NHL in the dead puck era of the 1990s, when it was much harder to score. McDavid cant even make the playoffs and will likely never make it to the Cup finals. Again, McDavid only seems good against today's low quality of NHL players.

If you really want to watch just how skilled he was find the 42-1-2 documentary on the 92/93 Maine Black Bears. He was simply leagues about everyone in the NCAA that year and it's a wonder he didn't put up more than the 100 points he finished with. It's likely we will never see a college hockey season that dominant again, given the parity and expansion D1 has seen over the last two decades, so it makes it more fun to appreciate just how insane of a season he had. In fact, the 1993 swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated had an article on Kariya with comparisons to Gretzky, which was a very bold proclamation, but not totally unwarranted at the time.
