watching this in 2020 and it's a sad state of affairs to see what we have lost. A PM that stood for the Arts sector, Aborginal issues, prophetic vision on renewable energy... the fact that he is still so active in political conversation highlights the passion he has and concern for the absolute depredation of this country in the last 20 plus years

The one and only politician that I ever had time for and the only one to hold my interest in the whole side show since. A real shame he didn't try to make a come back after loosing to Howard, not that I can blame him, he must have been totally dismayed that people saw Howard as a better choice than him. Someone who in no way represented the qualities of 'strong leader'. I always wondered how your average aussie bloke saw him as country leading material.

So, at 1:02 the Kiwi treaty is mentioned. WHY the hell did that treaty happen when the Maori had only been in NZ for 2 or 3 hundred years. They came from Pacific islands and basically ate the original inhabitants, the Mori Ori ( spelling?) out of existense. The biggest con job of all time surely!!!
@audries5048

Because the Maori were warlike, smart and strategic. They embraced the challenge of destroying the pakeha invaders. Settlers were asked to go back to Australia and only military families requested to stay. The Treaty of Waitangi occurred only because a mutual respect for the military capabilities was recognised on both sides.
