Paul Kelly - Thirroul - April 2 2022

One of Australia’s best loved singer/songwriters, Paul Kelly, took to the road again with an east coast, regional tour. Actually, like all things musical these past two years there had been some major delays but it was great finally being back at Anita’s for the first of his three sold out shows there. And a very big plus for me was having Vika and Linda Bull on stage with him. A terrific set list made it impossible for me to limit my recordings, although I did tend to steer away from some of his best known songs:

Australia produces wonderful singer/songwriters. I'd be very hard pressed to name my favourite. But you are most definitely right about Paul Kelly being a national living treasure.

Yes, I was thinking that too during the show. As good as he has ever sounded and that band was excellent. Vika did a truly wonderful version of "Sweet Guy". I wish I had recorded it.

I chimed in to watch then I thought of the first time saw PK and wondered where the colour girls went. The first time I saw you lot was 1987 at Crows Nest hotel… 37 years ago 🎉

I went to four shows on Paul's 2017 US tour in large part because the Bull sisters were in the band. What a dream to meet them and hang out a bit. You'll find the entire Slim's show in San Francisco on my channel.

Without a doubt the Bull sisters are treasures. It really was terrific having this opportunity of seeing them with Paul. Now I'd love to see them doing a gig with Black Sorrows. Sounds like you have some really great memories. I'll check your channel out.
