...when I was there before, I'd wondered if that awful scaffolding and plastic sheeting half way up the Tower would be out of the way in time for the lights' switch on ....but it's still THERE !! Any idea what it's for...it's been there for ages ? My favourite bit was always the 'moving' displays right up north, from 27:15 on.....but right at the end, is the call box near that pub which is where I phoned the breakdown service when my Aprilia 650 Pegaso died on me in 2010....I was there for 4 hours, waiting!

When we were there a few weeks ago to see Mamma Mia it looked to me that it's all part of the repainting of the tower. It does look a mess and I guess that work has ceased temporarily for the illuminations period?
