This is probly my favorite Paul song. I just cant get enough of it. I just wish I could meet Paul before I die. He has been my favorite Beatle since they started in the 60's. Just love this song.

Both Lennon and McCartney. The firt part is Lennon and the second one is McCartney. Paul's part starts at "woke up fell out the bed..." A true masterpiece.

As stated on wikipedia: "McCartney was reportedly given cowriting credit as a gesture of gratitude for his help in recording Lennon's highly personal The Ballad of John and Yoko the previous April, and accepting it for release as a Beatles single."

Paul did a medley tribute song about 18 years ago. Strawberry field/ Help/ Give Peace a Chance. Great to hear him sing A Day in the Life. Of course he can't live up to the legendary vocals that John provided but it was a great tribute anyhow. Ironically he keeps messing up the middle bit, which way his major contribution to the song.

@chicagolegend But the beauty of this song is set by the verses John wrote and sang. Yes, the song is MUCH better and epic for Paul's contributions, but it's John's opening and closing verses that are truly beautiful and haunting.

I like when the other Beatles take stabs at singing songs a different Beatle sang originally. This is an amazing tribute to John. Sure, Lennon sang it "better," but guess what? He's not around anymore to sing it. I'll take the next best thing : Paul McCartney.

I went through a phase where i was obsessed with finding out if paul was dead, when i googled "never could see any other way" sgt peppers lonely hearts club band comes up, but there is no quote of the actual lyric. It's actually scary it's just random words dotted around in difference sentences. Oddest thing i've ever seen.

Paul written the MIDDLE, the most important verse: "I'D LOVE TO TURN YOU ON" and above all, the revolutionary and iconic ORCHESTRA and play Piano. So song is 50% McCartney and 50% Lennon.

Give Peace A Chance was also Lennon/McCartney but because they broke up Lennon took the whole credit!

All "I" am saying is: Macca, pleeeeaase include more of Lennon, Harrison and Ringo's songs in your upcoming concerts! Ok, your setlist is huge, but I'm kinda of tired of the same ol' same ol' Hey Jude, Live and Let Die, Let it Be and many of those you keep on playing on and on! I am aware of the fact you have to play these numbers, but try and surprise Beatles's fans all around the world! Thanks! BTW - This video makes me shiver!

Yeah but Lennon was inspired as he was the writer and he was only 27 years old when he sang it, not 66! Macca would have sung this nice in 1967 also but couldn't have done what Lennon did with it!

The "A day in the life" song is amazing but the voice of paul it´s not thesame well for my point of view i think it will be best if McCartney doesn´t sing it in his concerts i´m sorry it´s no a bad review butJohn´s voice in that song was marvelous but now with the voice of paul it doesn´t fells the same he could do something else..
@sgtpepper113815 жыл бұрын
well he's also using MUCH bigger drums, a 26" bass drum compared to a 20 or 22 that was used, and BIG toms i've never really dug abe's drum sound, it's got no defenition, his high tom is still really low and his bass is just too big for this type of music, I mean they're not playing zeppelin he's a damn fine drummer, but he needs to change his kit to go with the music
@gutgolf7416 жыл бұрын
I agree, his voice is not very good on this one. Maybe he was so touched that his voice kind of broke... Please no more "BUT THIS IS A JOHN SONG" comments! Note the "Give peace a chance" ending. What does that tell you about Macca's intention??

The songs is a true Lennon McCartney song. Paul the middle + the I'd love to turn you on "sentence". The orchestral build up was more or less a Paul/George Martin brainchild. Although John calling it a musical orgasm.
