@lynda Lyons the undershirt may have looked sloppy but the story behind sentiment is true. Jan Werner of rolling stone magazine fame and the rock and roll hall of fame gatekeeper urged Paul to induct Lennon and promised paul he’d be inducted following year. But Jan hated paul and reneged on that promise for a long time. Jan sided w Lennon in early 70s and singlehandedly strived to negatively review all Paul’s solo albums despite their popularity

How do you know he was a bit drunk? Because he didn't have anything planned to say? Perhaps. I think he was highly emotional and wanted Stella for support. That was Paul....wanting someone by his side. A man truly from the North. This was right around the time he met that cow Heather Mills. Think of someone so vulnerable and that whale swallowing him up whole and then spitting him out. Awful but I guess we can all say we've been there to some degree. I have nothing damaging to write because I love Paul, too and just want to comment that I agree with the person who wrote about Rolling Stone rag. Yeah, it was, at one time, the national version of the early Village Voice....now it's a sham. And, sadly true about the RRHF.

+aerialkate You're right of course that Linda would have accompanied Paul to these events, as she did over the many years they were married. It was undoubtedly an extremely tough night which his daughter softened by her support. Paul’s pain here is multifaceted. He was promised by Jann Wenner (of the Rolling Stone, who has considerable sway over the Rock Hall of Fame; let’s be real, the two work in conjunction) to be inducted four years earlier. Wenner has always resented Paul on a personal level for no clear reason, forcing his staff to change reviews of Paul’s early solo efforts from positive to negative, and riding the “Lennon Remembers” fame train for as long as possible, even after John took back his rant years later. Wenner broke his promise, and that’s why Linda didn’t get to see Paul inducted, and that’s why Stella’s shirt says “Fucking finally.” We can’t ignore the dirty media politics that cause decent people considerable harm.
@jonnuanez7183 Жыл бұрын
Jann Werner was a big part of the reason why people played the John vs Paul game for so long. He put John on a pedestal since the first cover and Paul was the guy who wrote old fogey songs. Unless you were in the know back then, they made up years before Lennon's death. But that didn't make good copy. So let's keep the narrative going, which does no one any good. And can you imagine Jann printing a positive comment on any of Paul's songs? John did like a lot of them, including Silly Love Songs (which was based on a John comment 😂)
@CarstenPaulson-yh9yw Жыл бұрын
I can understand your perspective. The music industry, like any industry, can involve politics and personal agendas that can impact an artist's journey. It is unfortunate that Paul McCartney experienced such treatment from Jann Wenner and his team at Rolling Stone, which likely caused him and his family pain and disappointment. However, what matters most is that Paul was eventually recognized for his contributions to rock and roll, both as a member of the Beatles and as a solo artist. It is a great accomplishment and a testament to his talent and influence in the music world.

You want to know what’s behind this? It’s simple: Jann Wenner, the man who essentially controlled the R&R Hall of Fame. He hated McCartney. After Paul agreed to induct John in 1995, Wenner told him you’ll be inducted next year. Next year came around and he was passed over. When Linda called Wenner’s office to complain, she was told, “Paul McCartney will be inducted into the R&R Hall when you’re a widow.” Finally, the year AFTER Linda’s death, when Paul was the widower, he finally got in. That was Jann Wenner, who thought he was championing Lennon by systematically setting out to destroy McCartney’s reputation from the moment the Beatles broke up. I wouldn’t have blamed Paul had he snubbed the ceremony. But he went because of Linda, because she fought hard for him to be there

I love Stella and her "About Fucking Time" shirt. And it was really was About Fucking Time he got inducted. Stella and her shirt is my favorite rock and roll moment from this silly rock and roll hall of fame. Paul, you and Linda raised a great kid.

I also want to thank Paul for inspiring Neil Young to become a rock and roll musician. Neil turned out to be one of the very best song writers and musicians in rock and roll.

It goes without saying Paul was grieving over Linda. Sir Paul, you are the tops. Loved his reference to where's the other two beatles? They belong in the Hall of Fame as well. Rock on Paul!

I'm 44 years old, I am married with 2 kids and my own family. I don't know Paul personally but seeing this makes me cry everytime. When he's gone it will be like losing a relative, a person part of my life. I don't have this kind of feeling for any "famous" person, but with Paul. I really don't know why.
