Paul never understood or appreciated George when he was alive, and this assembly of 'super-stars,' with the abysmal insult of including George's son Hari as a token, is absolutely antithetical to George's entire philosophy. George was just interested in being human, while Paul was always at heart a canny businessman who was mainly interested in the success of the enterprise. George created the benefit concert, while the rest of the rock and roll stars were just fiddling around with their accountants, figuring out how to maximize the returns on their investment portfolios. Paul's "token" to his buddy is just a cynical enterprise, completely devoid of the soul of the original.

Not only for the loss of his bandmate and good friend, George Harrison, but the losses that he has had to deal with in his life, starting with his beloved wife Linda who he clearly adored, the loss of John Lennon so tragically, and now George. In recent photos of Paul McCartney he looks extremely happy with his wife, but no one could ever replace Linda his first love. And I don't get the feeling that his present wife would have a problem with that. He truly looks happier than I have seen him in a very long time. When Paul tours, he performs "Something" as a tribute to George. Although I'd prefer All Things Must Pass, it's so touching to see the love Paul obviously still has for him.

I don’t know which is more impressive; Paul’s vocals, or Clapton’s being the “mother hen” and keeping this band in line to make sure Paul shined.

Jeff Lynne produced Concert for George this is why it sounds so great!

It is also probably why it was filmed in beautiful HD. Jeff had just filmed a show in 2000 which was very early HD.

I can only imagine what Paul must have been feeling when he sang this song. His best friends were no longer there with him and they had rehearsed this song together and I wish they had put the song in the album. It wasn't long since he had lost his wife too. It is something to admire in this man that music is his talent and strength and sustains him when life throws him a lot of pain. I'm glad that he still has Ringo. I love Paul and I always will. Miss George and miss John. I will love the Beatles forever and ever 🙏🎵🙏 I can't ever watch this without crying my eyes out. 🌈

I saw Paul in concert last summer...He sang Something and talked lovingly about George...and i think he is a big enough person to give credit to others...These guys had to grow up in public....warts, jealousies and all...I think Paul has matured and done quite well...and it is certain to me he neither needs credit or recognition...He has exceeded any other songwriter of the last century by a million miles...He is a gracious man ...he spoke lovingly of John too...so for me ..anyone who has shortcomings...they too can pass!
@johnp5154 жыл бұрын
Well put, and it should be noted by all those who blow the odd catty or sardonic or jealous comment that The Beatles made about each out of all proportion, that they all also said that they really did love each other. When George was dying, Paul went to his bedside and held his hand.

Sunrise doesn't last all morning A cloudburst doesn't last all day Seems my love is up And has left you with no warning It isn't always going To be this grey All things must pass All things must pass away Sunset doesn't last all evening A mind can blow the clouds away After all this my love is up And must be leaving It isn't always going To be this grey All things must pass All things must pass away All things must pass None of life's strings can last So I must be on my way To face another day Now the darkness only lasts night time In the morning it will fade away Daylight is good At arriving at the right time It isn't always going To be this grey All things must pass All things must pass away All things must pass All things must pass away
