To all people wondering, these outtakes from Abbey Road came to light on the 1978 LP "No. 3 Abbey Road N.W. 8". I'm definitely not the one who exhumed it. The Post Card Sessions were previously on KZbin before being removed a couple months ago due to a copyright claim.

Donovan was clearly a huge influence on The Beatles guitar style during their India trip. Can you imagine if Donovan wasn't there why studying under the Marharshi then all those acoustic songs wouldn't have been written. Three songs written at that time had the descending guitar line: Dear Prudence, While my guitar gently weeps, Cry baby cry......and then Julia which was John's first attempt at playing finger style taught by Donovan.

This represents Donovan's style and songs from his underrated double LP set 'HMS Donovan', which was recorded from '68 thru '71 and released in '71. It has mostly children's songs and 'nursery rhyme' sort of material, including his unequalled versions of Jabberwocky and The Walrus and The Carpenter. If you're interested in Donovan, check out those recordings; some of them are fantastic.

I thought he'd made it up, too! He was referring to the riots. Don't riot, folks. Yet, he has claimed that because he used the 'N' word once in a great while as a youth, that he was a racist. Does anyone here really believe Paul's a racist? Intent is the issue. Both sides use that word. Paul wants to be loved by everyone, it's his biggest chain around his neck in his life. Also an asset, if used properly. He's a good man, the personal testimony is universal, and he doesn't need to pose as one, as 80% of Notables do today, and probably always have. Actions speak much louder than words.
@Rkw772 Жыл бұрын

I haven't heard this is years. I had this bootleg LP in the 80's. Many stoned nights listening to this. I think on the flipside was John Lennon and Syd Barrett doing "What A Shame Mary Jane" and some other psychedelic stoned meanderings.
@obdeisibcirrus9932 ай бұрын
While it could have been inspired by Syd he wasn’t on that song
@TheFlowNetwork2 ай бұрын
@@obdeisibcirrus993 This history of that song is confusing. Although it's credited to Lennon and appears on Anthology 3, it appeared on a Syd Barrett album called "Vegetable Man Where Are You?" in 1987. And the bootleg had been available for some time even before then. I do recall reading somewhere...maybe in The Beatles Recording Sessions book?...somewhere...about how Pink Floyd were recording at Abbey Road at the same time as The Beatles and this song came from a collaboration between Syd and John. It wouldn't surprise me that The Beatles (Lennon) wouldn't give any credit to Syd. Brian Jones didn't get credit contemporaneously for his sax part on "You know my name...". Clapton didn't get credit. And we all know about John stealing the credit for a Zappa tune. So it wouldn't be out of character.
@scottandrewbrass193129 күн бұрын
@@TheFlowNetworkIt isn't confusing at all. Lennon ( with a little help from Yoko probably) wrote "What's the new Mary Jane" in 1968 in India almost a year after The Beatles met Pink Floyd during the Pepper sessions. John recorded it Abbey Road on Wednesday 14th August 1968 with Yoko George and Mal Evans. Syd Barrett and John Lennon never worked on anything together. No matter what some 1987 bootleg might have told you 😂
