Most bands look for extra songs to fill an album whereas the Beatles didn’t have enough albums to fill the songs.

The limitations of the medium - the 33-1/3 LP vinyl record was a big source of tension in the band. By 1969, there were 3 prolific song writers and simply not enough real estate to accommodate them all.

"Castle Of The King Of The Birds" seems like an alternative or parallel universe beatles song. It is very similar to the Sgt. Pepper's and Magical Mystery Tour albums style, very psychedelic but in a melodic lullaby type of way. The melody is so beautiful yet haunting, giving a bittersweet and familiar, almost nostalgic, feeling. And the fact that it has no lyrics makes the song feel like the musical manifestation of an emotion, or a story or a bundle of feelings you just can't describe with words. To me it even seems like a song trying to paint the full picture and complexity of one person. And I don't know why, but when I think of who that person could be, I think is John Lennon. It is such a beautiful piece, I'm glad we get to enjoy it in such a raw and wonderful form.

'Castle of the King of the Birds' is mixolydian mode. Paul maybe knew this or not but the song could of been stunning.
@GrantTarredus3 жыл бұрын
I’m unfamiliar with this term so I’m about to look it up, but perhaps you could expand on this at your convenience? Thanks!
@HiltonBenchley3 жыл бұрын
@@GrantTarredus This may not be technically perfect, but should explain it. In standard western music there are 12 notes within an octave. A scale contains a selection of those notes, usually with them separated by a tone or a semitone. In an ascending major scale, the separations are tone-tone-semitone-tone-tone-tone-semitone. With a minor scale, the separations are tone-semitone-tone-tone-semitone-tone-tone. If one looks at the key with all the white notes on a piano, the (C) major scale uses CDEFGABC and the minor one (A minor) uses ABCDEFGA. However, there are five other scales (or modes), starting with notes other than C and A. These are used less commonly and at least one very rarely. The mixolydian would be the one starting on G in this case, using GABCDEFG notes. The semitones appear in different places, the chords may need to be different, and the whole feel can be very different.
@fromchomleystreet3 жыл бұрын
@@GrantTarredus Basically, it’s in a major key, and the only difference between this mode and a regular old major scale is that the seventh note of the scale is flattened by one semi-tone. It tends to give things a bluesy sound and is very common in rock.

The name has an artistic, poetic, not literal character. No, the Beatles never recorded an album that may be lost. But they recorded hundreds of unofficial songs, previously unpublished compositions , variations, outtakes, jam, improvs etc that, put together, sound like a "lost album" for real fans. Isn’t It A Pity is a song George later included in All Things Must Pass
@kenwittlief2553 жыл бұрын
George wrote many of the songs on his first solo album in the 1960s, and they were all rejected by the other 3... at least the ones he shared with them.. After a while he stopped sharing, he knew what was coming.

I'd wager that there are some musical gold hidden in these tapes that could be mined. I'd bet if they were extended and fleshed out some of these bits would be prime Beatles. It would be interesting what the children of the Beatles could do with them.

1. Beatles Kids aside from the Lennons, Zak and Dhani aren't natural musicians. Talented, but not interested. 2. A number of the melody lines and motifs (from here) appear on some solo albums. 3. As a musician, does no one think that there would be apocryphal fragment pages of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, the original creators of Gregorian chants, if paper was not burned for heating? Not every line is a song; it's part of the creative process, a thinking out loud. It's similar to daVinci's sketchbooks.

@@meeeka Zach Starkey isn't a natural musician? He drummed for Oasis and probably has been with the Who for over 20 years. I agree he doesn't seem interested in a Beatles Kids gig but he's a phenomenal drummer.

I love it! Thats George leading off .. Everyone of these songs could've been Hits for The Beatles. Or just album songs, not 45rpm... Wow, I've been playing guitar for so long that I know the chords he's playing just by the sounding of them! 🎸 🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️

I think this has been suggested lots of times but the Beatles children have shown no interest at all, they are their own people after all
@gordonmorris63594 жыл бұрын
@@jrgboy Agreed, and there's that thing that Paul always says about the burden of fame, so to speak, he's said "why put them through that?". But, I have a feeling that, dare I say it, the next terrible time when a Beatle dies, as with John and George, the remaining Beatle will likely commemorate the passing with a concert, and this may compel Beatle kids to participate as Dani and Zach have done, it's unpredictable, plus nowadays Julian (a photographer now) has resolved his 'issues' and won't be in the same mindset at all as he was previously, and of course Sean had his own issues with 'being compared', as Julian had, but they're beyond that stuff by now. Paul's son James is a musician I think. Just sayin'... you never know!
@JuanReyes-if6ky3 жыл бұрын
That would be great but there will be problems. The beatles sons could easily take over the rock and roll music industry. So they must be careful and the recordings have to be in absolute secret. And the reason why i said that they have to be careful is because the beatles sons could bring back beatlemania in a for more worse way than the original beatles. And i don't know if this is true about what i said but it could happen or mabey it's not a good idea. 😊 ❤
