Love this! My nickname since I was born has been Jenny Wren! My great-grandfather, hard of hearing, thought they said "Jenny Wren" when telling him my name. Sounded a lot like Jeri Lynn. That was 72 years ago, this Sat. Thank you, Paul!!

What a great story..Where would we be if The Beatles never came along with all of their precious songs?

That's an awesome story. God bless you.

I can't remember the last McCartney song that had me in tears more than once. But Jenny Wren does. Lennon would have liked this song. Lyrically, it's as good as anything he ever wrote for Abbey Road. It would have fit on any late Beatles album.

I personally envisage it on Rubber Soul.

I keep coming back to this song. I had not heard this solo acoustic version which is just wonderful. I also love the studio recording with the gorgeous du-duk playing that counter melody. In fact this is probably my favorite Paul McCartney song.

Maybe everyone already knows this, but Jenny Wren, the crippled girl who makes dresses for children’s dolls in Our Mutual Friend, is one of Dickens’ greatest characters.

In New York on Long Island is a Bodega .If you go there on a rainy night and cross the street from the Bodega you will find an alley way.At the end of this alley you will see a loose brick right in the middle of the wall.It has a heart shaped mark right in the middle of it..Reach in and wiggle the brick out.Inside you will find an ebony rock with gold veins running thru it.Very shiney.This rock it is said to be held by Paul Mccartney in his right pocket while writing songs.I can not tell you how or why it is there else i be cursed.Do not fetch this rock unless you are a song writer and guitarist.The city is Bayshore.

Does anybody know how would it sound if the guitar tunning was the standard one and not a lower one as he plays it? would the song sound happier?
@haggler8 ай бұрын
No, I mean it could, but changing the key up and down does not inherently affect the mood of the music, though some would say some songs just sound right in their original key. Changing the key from minor to major would indeed most likely give the song a less somber tone.
@kopkaf4 ай бұрын
In my opinion it sounds more energetic with the standard tuning, but not necessarily happier, just a somewhat new vibe. That tends to be the case for most songs that get increased in pitch. The Beatles actually performed Yesterday in Munich in 1966 in the key of G instead of F. To me it still sounded melancholy, but more fresh and with a new interpretation.

Thanks for uploading! If you have a minute, we uploaded an Eddie Van Halen tribute video. As fellow music lovers, we'd love if you would take a listen. It's on our channel. Don't be too tough on us :)

wonderful. wish he'd tuned his guitar first though. :)

The guitar is perfectly tuned, but in a tone lower (DGCFAD), as on the studio recording as well. This makes it sound unusual to your ears.

"Infamous" Abbey Road? You confuse "infamous" and "famous". There is nothing nefarious about Abbey Road Studios. Best word choice here is simply "famous". Merriam's Dictionary definition of 'infamous': 1: having a reputation of the worst kind : notoriously evil an infamous traitor 2: causing or bringing infamy : DISGRACEFUL an infamous crime 3: convicted of an offense bringing infamy
