Actually - like almost all the British R&R bands of the era - all the Beatles were influenced by the American blues & jazz greats. John Lennon famously idolized Chuck Berry, and Macca spoke of Nat King Cole as a favorite. Paul had listened to Nat for hours a a child as Nat was a favorite of his father's, who played in a jazz band. "Mother Nature's Son" was inspired by Nat's "Nature Boy" and a little by Paul's time in India. So was John's "Child Of Nature", although John liked the Maharishi Yogi far more than Paul and stayed longer along with George, with Paul leaving much earlier. Paul liked the way Cole's song flowed like water, rising and falling, so he created his own rather soothing flow which is a LOT more complicated musically than most realize. The man's a musical genius.

@MrPed61 Isn't that what I said? Yes, I like Stevie's version better than this one by Paul but I like the recorded one by the Beatles best. Why be so derogatory to Mr Riks? He is one of the best impressionist out there, not a fake. I'm thankful that the Beatles live on thru him - at least if you can suspend belief for a moment. Try Riks/Beautiful Boy or Riks/ Apple Scruffs, then decide if he's just a fake. BTW, I am half deaf in my right ear (makes tuning harder) =)

I never knew THIS was the Beatles till I went to a return of the Beatles concert. It was people who were dressed up as the Beatles and sang covers of the songs of the original Beatles. The Beatles released this first. I used to think John Denver did this first. Nope. Was I wrong. Prior to that I didn't even know John Lennon wrote this with Paul McCartney.

Stefano Gaetani it is the real Paul that got kidnapped in 1965. They tried to fix his face but he had to go into hiding near the studio of Sir George Martin's studio in Majorca. A look a like was employrmed to sing the songs of this pathetic and hidious shut in Paul. The songs began to take on an unearthly quality.

Very bad Version !!! Mc McCartney should not do any Version from the Beatles songs. Every Version from the Beatles Songs that i heard from Mccartney is shit and without feeling. Mabe he thougt he composed that Songs and if he Play them whit some great Players it would Sound better than the bealtes, but he was completely wrong. Sucess in the Music is not only good Play, ist also Soul, and the bealtes had much Soul togehter, and Mccartney alone will never reproduce this Soul from the Beatles, thats why he should stop to do versions from the Beatles Songs, it doesn´t mather if he composed that Songs.

I konow he composed it. And i recognize Mccartney was a very great Song writer.
