@allbottledup95132 жыл бұрын
@@gretchennelson7056 It’s about one of his best friends who was murdered when they were young men. He is not “here today” and because of that, it is deeply personal for Paul. Deeply personal means it takes a lot of guts to get out in front of millions of people and preform it.

He was an incredible example of how a man can be both one of the most beloved in history and also one with such problems and difficulty with so many aspects of life that of the people who hate him one of them is his own son who he wrote one of his most famous songs about. And his son isn’t being petty… John was was a genius and made millions of lives a little bit better… but he also failed one of the people he should have put above all those millions and most would have. He’s a testament to the cost of genius and fame. If someone offered me right now the immortality, money, fame, and all the “benefits” of it that John had as well as his ability to reach so many, but it meant no matter what my son would end up resenting me the way Jude does John, I’d turn it all down instantly. You could even offer me all that except instead of a musician I’d be some kind of world famous venom scientist… and I still wouldn’t do it. I’m publishing and I’m getting my doctorate and I’m enacting my plan to save venomous snakes and fame would make me far more able to do that… but I couldn’t do it at the cost of hitting my wife or alienating my son. Not that John ever made that choice consciously at single moment. But he was inarguably deeply flawed. No less than Jim Morrison… their flaws were just… different. I wonder if John would be alive today if not for that insane stalker, my gut tells me he wouldn’t have lived much longer regardless. He was unhappy, he was angry, and he self medicated heavily in a time where there were no treatment options besides sobriety or prison and he had way too much access to unregulated and unmonitored “medication”. It might not have been as dramatic as an OD, but he wouldn’t have lived to a ripe old age… and he may have become an object of resentment in that time. We’ll never know… but he may also be an example of someone who burnt out rather than rust. In the words of Neil Young.
