Not one person will ever be PAUL. His: Talent Looks and Class Personality Plus Musical, writer/performer, Poetic Respected Loved and Loving How grateful I am to have lived in this era. At Age 14 in 1964 when they~~~ The Beatles ~~~ arrived here for Ed Sullivan’s show I had no idea how music would change forever, no idea. I lived and loved it. At age 20 I stood in line at my college bookstore for The Abbey Road album; and as I walked my 4 blocks from campus to my apartment I remember feeling such joy that day. Life was good. 🎹🎹 🎉🎉😊

I seen some big stars live, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Prince, David Bowie, Rolling Stones.. but McCartney was the only time I saw a "star" and immediately started to cry. I remember thinking "he was the partner of John Lennon" and there was no coming closer to my all time hero than seeing McCartney. I didn't even really care what songs he played that night. Just getting to see him in the flesh was worth the ticket.

Seriously hate reading all the hate filled comments, why does there have to be a war between Lennon fans and McCartney fans, I love them both. I love all the Beatles Music, seriously they wrote a lot of stuff together, and even when they didnt, the creative juice of both of them was there and made their songs better, something that will never be repeated. So enough of all this BS, and just appreciate what this is......A friend paying tribute to someone who is no longer with us. And enjoy the timeless music that is THE BEATLES
@dlh79899 жыл бұрын
You'd think the fans would learn from John and Paul's mistakes and all their BS and pettiness about "who wrote what, who gets credit for what, he said she said (she said)" and realize it doesn't matter. It didn't matter then and it's mattered less and less to pretty much nothing as The Beatles have truly become the stuff of legend over time. What's absolutely certain is Lennon and McCartney have immortal legacies, together and separate, and whether Paul says John wrote Help! or Paul wrote Help! or Ringo wrote Help!, WE know John wrote Help!, EVERYBODY knows John wrote Help!, and as much as you can laugh at or get angry with Paul, call him petty, pathetic, yell at him for grabbing a bit of credit as he is wont to do, in the end, Paul included Help! in the medley because he wanted to pay tribute to JOHN LENNON. No matter what he says or however he happens to phrase even the tiniest things off the cuff (which the small but intensely vocal, insecure, and unforgiving portion of Lennon's otherwise pretty awesome fanbase never fail to pick apart for their routine Macca character assassinations)...he obviously recognizes that it's a John song. Period. Some things are worth complaining about, but there should seriously be no problem here. Paul can say whatever he wants, but again, at this point, everybody knows the history and the credits backwards and forwards and I'm sure he realizes that. No doubt that he can be a royal douchebag and spout off arrogant bullshit even to this day, but like that's anything new with The Beatles (well, actually Ringo was always pretty cool, always going around wearing his shades and flashing that peace sign, love that guy!). Fact is that for all Paul says in this interview or that interview, he ultimately has never shown anything but the utmost respect for John's legacy, as a person, as a solo musician, and as an essential artistic voice in the greatest fucking rock band of all time. So...what are we arguing about?
@lorettanajarian5299 жыл бұрын
Dylan Burgess You said it all very well. Paul ALWAYS had respect for John, despite the differences. Those issues were the result of John's pretty heavy drugging, but in the middle of it all he still wanted to play and write music with his best friend. I watched the 2015 RRHF and was touched and a little saddened that 2 Beatles are no longer with us. When you grieve for someone as close as those 2 were, the grief goes on forever - it changes a bit, but it is always there. I was thinking how great it would have been if all 4 of them could have been on the stage together, like Green Day, and hear all the love and applause directed at Ringo, but also at the band's longevity. I just find the whole thing so very sad.
@occamsrayzor6 жыл бұрын
The simple answer is that they're not fans, just petty little non-entities with a manic desire to be "right". I've followed the Beatles since day one - literally (yes, I'm an old bastard). John Lennon and Paul McCartney, like everyone else on the planet, were/are complicated individuals with multiple layers of personality, flaws, foibles. They had fights and disagreements, and in their personal lives some low points. None of that matters, and it makes their music all the more rich and timeless. The music of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr has been the soundtrack to my life, and will last far beyond me and everyone else here.

He's not lying. Paul and John co-wrote almost all of the Beatles material. Even if it wasn't always half and half they would still bounce ideas off each other all the time and weren't particular about who deserves more credit for this or that song. Officially the composition label for most Beatles songs reads "Lennon/McCartney", which you'll see printed on the page if you were to buy say a chart or sheetmusic of one of their songs.
@ipsurvivor6 жыл бұрын
Throat Yogurt - it varied from song to song... Yesterday is all Paul for example... Sometimes they quibbled about who wrote what... like exactly how much on On a given song. They collaborated more on the earlier material. Paul admitted to this about this arrangement quite early that a song could be all John but he would still get the co-write. Then it became less common has time went on... Or it would be something like John Lennon telling Paul he should keep the line about "the movement on your shoulder" since Paul wanted to replace that line but John thought it was the best line in the song and he thought it was about him and Yoko... But that's not song writing but advice... but he was correct.. that line kind of makes the song deeper... a lot of it we will never know exactly. Their arrangement was smart though because it helped them keep a monopoly in the group and it was a brand name like Rogers and Hart... It was intelligent of them to foresee the value of their arrangement... It also helped them benefit from getting paid when tastes leaned towards Lennon's work as in the 70's and 80s and then when later criticism favored Macca... I view them as equals with different tendencies but the Idea was brilliant on their part... and showed the trust and respect they had for each other...

In my opinion, it would have made sense to put Paul's name first when he was more responsible for the composition.

Yesss in Getting Better John came up with “It cant get no worse” Paul always brings that one up

@@leonardshevlin7260 That would be a bad idea. A lot of the early songs especially were written 50/50. How would you decide who came first without pointless destructive arguments? If you reverted to Lennon-McCartney on those but switched it on clearly McCartney songs it then makes it look like Lennon mostly wrote the 50/50 songs. Having a standard format avoids all of that and doesn’t weight the credit towards either writer.

John and Paul loved each other, There would have been many a reunion of the Beatles if John and George were alive today.

The group was The Beatles,not the Lennons or the McCartneys. I love hearing Paul sing more of the songs that John did the lead on. All these people that try to pit them against each other or give more credit to one than the other are missing the point. They were in a group. Together. And the total was greater than the sum of the parts-or however that phrase goes. They all made the music better.

It makes me sad when people try to pit them against each other. The four Fabs together were true magic!

Paul impromtu version of SFF in the Get Back documentary is the best version of this song. It's just sublime.

I think this is "Friends of the Earth Tour, and I went to it in Dallas and it was anything but uninspiring. That was a concert from the moment he walked on the stage you inhaled and didn't exhale until the next day. There are no words to describe Paul McCartney "live' I have been a Beatles nut since age 2 and he took me by surprise. His stage presence, no words,still gives me goosebumps to think about it and know that I saw the greatest musician that will ever be.

In 1992, on a business trip to Israel, I wrote "give peace a chance" on a slip of paper and placed it in a crack in the "wailing" wall. That year Begin and Arafat shook hands in the Rose Garden. For a time it seemed magical, but was a brief shining moment ....

I like hearing Paul singing John's songs. Closest you'll get to him is his pal and band member singing his stuff.
