Get the story behind Paul McCartney singing "That's All Right, Mama" with Elvis Presley's Band! It'll certainly be a thrill.
Paul McCartney's collaboration with Elvis Presley's band took place in 1999, more than two decades after Elvis's death. McCartney was in Memphis, Tennessee, to record music for his album "Run Devil Run," which was a tribute to the early rock 'n' roll music that had inspired him in his youth.
While in Memphis, McCartney decided to pay a visit to Sun Studio, the legendary recording studio where Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and other early rock 'n' roll stars had recorded some of their most famous songs. McCartney had been to Sun Studio before, but this time he was accompanied by a surprise guest: Scotty Moore, Elvis's guitarist.
Moore had been instrumental in creating the distinctive sound of Elvis's early recordings, and McCartney was eager to work with him. The two musicians spent several hours jamming together, playing some of their favorite rock 'n' roll tunes.
At one point, McCartney suggested they record a version of "That's All Right, Mama," the song that had launched Elvis's career in 1954. Moore was initially hesitant, but he eventually agreed, and they quickly put together a makeshift band, which included Moore on guitar, D.J. Fontana on drums, and an engineer from Sun Studio on bass.
The resulting recording was raw and unpolished, but it captured the spirit of the early rock 'n' roll era. McCartney's vocals were energetic and enthusiastic, and the band played with a tightness and precision that reflected their years of experience.

Wow! My mind was blown watching this. Two worlds coming together here and all parties respected each other so much for what they brought to rock and roll.

I feel the same way. All professionals. But the look on Paul's face when they messed up the intro twice. Priceless. Anyway, thanks for watching the video.

@@BeatlemaniacsAnonymous It’s true. I felt so nervous for the other guys when Paul responded like that haha. Imagine if you messed up in front of Paul Mc Cartney?? Luckily they had a good laugh and continued on. The song sounded amazing!!!

I met Scotty Moore in Detroit. He was selling autographed pictures of him on stage in the 50's. Scotty way in the foreground of the photo and waaay in the background a tiny little Elvis. The caption on the photo said SCOTTY MOORE (and friend) lol. He was a very nice man.

Considering the recording was completely live with only a trio (no rhythm guitar) and the vocalist playing bass, there was nothing "unpolished" about this performance!

Now, who would dare to say Elvis and Beatles hated each other ? Who ? Elvis proposed that Beatles to become his baking vocals group. See Tom Jones statement

Before that would ever happen, there would have been a better chance that the BEATLES hire ELvis to back them ! Or if everyone involved had lived into the 2000s and then the BEATLES decided to get together and have a concert for the ages, their first time together since 1969 , it would have been SOBIG an event that ELvis would have been honored to open for THEM!. 😮 Yes Really 👍

Raw and unpolished. I see that as a dig against Paul. He did a nice job. Elvis wasn't any better.
