Paul McCartney released his 18th solo album Egypt Station on Friday (September 7) and gave New York City fans a little treat.
As Rolling Stone reports, around 200 people, ranging from close friends to total strangers, filled Vanderbilt Hall - a chamber off the main commuter concourse of Grand Central Terminal. Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Jimmy Fallon and Jon Bon Jovi were all there.
The former Beatle was filming a KZbin livestream concert and wanted to make sure it went smoothly, so he gave the crowd instructions. His plan was to begin the broadcast alone, with the audience in complete silence. “Then I’ll just move a little more over this way and sing, ‘Hey Jude…'” he explained. “And you’ll sing, ‘Don’t make it bad…’ And that’s your big moment!” Only, that was its only moment. Aside from the intro tease, he didn't play the iconic song.
The living legend of course was there to promote his new album, but the special show's set list only contained a few Egypt Station songs - relying mostly on old classics.

But let's enjoy who & what we have now, and wish them both a long lovely life, and for lot's more music and joy! Peace & Love to All in Our World! Larry Gillreath, Gun Barrel City, Texas.

Oh yes, I'm 71, experienced the Beatles from the beginning. Today, you can hardly comprehend what was going on back then. They were omnipresent. When they went to America, they were in the top five of the charts ... it's likely that will never happen again. And the waiting for their new songs, five times in the record shop, until they were finally there. It was a fantastic time that I would never want to miss!

As time goes by, you can hear that "old man warble" in his voice more & more on the relaxed portions like in Let It Be but when he kicks out the loud vocals in the lyrics like in parts of I've Got A Feeling he still sounds the same decades later. I saw them ~20 years ago back in Vegas & he/they kicked ass non-stop. The drummer Abe knocks me out. He's a show by himself. Outstanding show! I can't wait to see the 'Get Back' doc/series coming up!

Went into the kitchens just asked a couple of the staff if everything was going ok and no one questioned us, walked into the hall,it was incredible, never heard a bloody thing for the screaming.Great days.

So amazing to see him play to a crowd made up of fans who, for the most part, weren't born during the Beatles' era. Nice for those who've never heard some of those sweet early tunes like "Love Me Do" and "From Me To You." (Love his quip about adding the G-minor chord to their repertoire.) I especially enjoyed this expanded version of "I've Got a Feeling," a song I've loved since I first heard it, all those years ago. Sir Paul turned 76 in 2018. I'm not a vegetarian, let alone a vegan, but let no one claim you can't live a long and healthy life on that kind of diet -- the guy looks amazing. His voice isn't quite as supple as it once was, but he still sounds good. Rock on, Sir Paul!

Lisa Gillreath >>> my daughter LISA is in Heaven, never heard the BEATLES, bc she was only two years old. If you get there before I do, please sing her Paul’s best ones! I’m 72, have all their vinyl albums, and Paul’s WINGS CDs. So sad his beloved wife preceded him. And sad the young blonde twit he later married was jealous of his continued popularity and wanted out, with his millions, of course. His politics are way too far left for me, but I still love his music, regardless. He became socialist left winger bc of Hollywood influence on his life and those actors’ left leaning views, helped by the CCP.

Read your post & many people don’t know (thankfully they have not experienced great loss) that we miss them always & they are forever on our minds, especially this season. God has given me a wonderful life so far - a beautiful childhood and adolescence, when I, living in a socialist country (Czechoslovakia - now I say fortunately :-)) I first heard the name Elvis Presley and the group Shadows on Radio Luxembourg. Then between a stream of quite uninteresting songs suddenly something completely new and refreshing sounded - and I didn't know who it was. So, when this new, musically really nice style came up again, I started watching the band's name - and it was called BEATLES! I accidentally found them for myself! Then I adored them for years and enjoyed their beautiful music for many years - even while studying medicine in Prague. I am now 74 years old and I enjoy their music just like when I was young.I even bought a guitar after 40 years and I try to play and sing Ticket to Ride :-) I'm really happy to see a lot of young people at this amazing concert. Thank you Paul, John, George, Ringo for still gilding my old years. Thank you ALL, and to you Paul and Ringo good health! Francis Lakatos.

First time I heard The Beatles I was about 3 years old. I was lying down with a fever and some guys in the neighborhood put on HELP! to play loudly. My grandmother asked them to turn the sound down. She said that, to her surprise, when she returned to the bedroom she saw me jumping on the bed and I asked her why they had turned off the sound. It was love at first hearing.

I was extremely fortunate to get tickets to see Paul for my 41st birthday. I'll never forget seeing Paul in person and experiencing the performance of many legendary songs. His tribute to George was A M A Z I N G! I don't think there was a dry eye in the whole stadium - Lambeau Field, baby! Helter Skelter was more metal than I'd previously realized. Live and Let Live was amazing with all the pyro and I don't think a single person was sitting during that song. Oh, when he hit that first chord in Hey, Jude... I bet everyone had goosebumps. For a moment we were all family and there wasn't a woe in the world. I'm grateful for my gift of Paul.

Not wasted like a bum, but enough to let the creative juices flow. Jazz players used heroin to get their blues on, but that can kill with an overdose. I never heard of anyone dying from an overdose of pot, weed. Very medicinal. Used to be in half of all the patent medicines, before big pharma had it outlawed. And the Nazi docs pushing their poisons ( Operation Paperclip ) are the Nation’s 6th cause of death! Cancer was practically non existent when I was a teen, knew not one person who had it.
