So long as the hitter doesn't talk smack to the pitcher when he does it (unless it's a situation similar to Giancarlo Stanton against Mike Fiers, where Fiers had previously ended his season by hitting him in the face with a pitch), I don't see what the problem is. Plus, O'Neill wasn't exactly known for acting like a "true gentleman" when he didn't get a hit

Stood next to him for about three hours @ a James Taylor concert Riversbend in Cincinnati. He came walk-in up at the beginning after a couple songs w his wife and gave me a nod and asked if he could layout his blanket nxt to ours. I said no problem as long as Sabo’s not with ya. They laughed, my girl who literally went to Brookhaven high in CBUS asked if I knew him. Never said another word til we were packing up and he said you all be careful heading home. Shook my hand and I said my dad (huge Reds fan)considered you among the elite and would start him on his greatest to ever play the game team. Also hasn’t watched a Yankees game since he retired and won’t until they retire 21. He smiled and said tell your dad thanks and to DH me! Classy dude. Humble.
