Hypothetically, one might be able to protect one's back in professional wrestling by avoiding putting it under pressure. Unfortunately, his famed finishing hold, the Hennig or Perfect Plex, required him to do some hoisting of the opponent over his head and then bridge his back up from the canvas. Just seeing him doing it while the narrator was discussing his back problems made me wince.

Liked Hennig on commentary, and loved Hennig as a babyface, but MAN, I wish they'd booked him better during that period. People don't look that fondly on anything other than the turn itself (which was one of the best heel-faceturns ever, imo), but just like with Warrior's WWF Championship run, I think that mostly had to do with the opponents with whom he was booked. The thing with Luger should've been better than it turned out to be, and his feud with Shawn (especially at SummerSlam) SHOULD have been one of hte best matches ever recorded...and those are really the only opponents of note during his face run AT ALL. Still love that face turn, though. Having him backing up Flair was so extra (since Heenan was his actual manager), and went on for so long, it gave every appearance of an eventual face turn having been the plan all along, even though I'm sure what they were going for was for Hennig to be Flair's WWF stand-in for Arn Anderson. Still wish we'd gotten Flair/Hall against the Mega Maniacs that night, though.
